I came in second and am now really regretting not having bid more. Typically I decide on a number I can live with, bid it and forget it if I don't get it, but I'm kicking myself on this one. The winner just got a real beaut', and an interesting one at that.

I'm 5'10, so I know the Tempo doesn't work for me, being a 62cm. Paramount might work but I don't need a bike.

A nice 53cm De Rosa, at $800 with 3 hours to go. I went and inspected this one personally. It is stunning to look at - the pics don'e do it justice - but overpriced, IMO. Seller says his reserve is "close to $1000":

1992 bridgestone rb-1 rb1 road bicycle. 56cm. Red frame with white decals.
The legendary top of the line road bicycle, designed by the legendary Grant Petersen, currently of rivendell fame. Built of ishiwata 022E tubing, fully butted. One of the most sought after and collectible bikes by enthusiasts and collectors.
Shimano 600 tricolor drivetrain, avocet racing 1 saddle, wheels built with butted spokes. Control tech stem, nitto handlebars. Very very few miles on the bike and components, probably less than 300.
All original, down to the original 700x28c gumwall tires. Bicycle, paint, and decals are in fantastic condition, with only a few minor paint chips- mostly from moving the bike around indoors.

This is a 56 cm Colnago Master XL - all steel - steel frame, steel fork etc... Dura Ace 9 speed groupo. I purchased it used a number of years ago and rode at least 2,000 miles on it. As you would expect for this vintage, it has a few nicks and small paint chips but overall in solid shape and the bike still looks great. The Mavic Aksium wheels and tires are almost brand new. I am keeping the seat and peddles. Please e-mail my with questions or if you'd like to take it for a test ride.

.I purchased it new in NYC in the late 60's. I an 5'5" and the bike is equivalent to 23/24" frame.
It needs some attention, but the seat is in good shape, the rear brakes probably need new pads, the left handle bar needs new tape, and there is some surface rust on the spokes.
It has always been stored indoors.
I have lots of images, and/or you can see it by appointment.
Riding it is like an extention of your body. It is wonderfully balanced.
Has rims, needs rubber

Up For sale is a 60cm 10 speed Raleigh Super Course road bike. This lugged steel frame is made of the much sought after Reynolds 531 tubing. Stand over height is 33 inches and would be perfect for a taller rider. Components include Weinmann brakes, Suntour derailleurs and shifters, SR crank, SR seat post, leather Selle Royal saddle, Weinmann 700c quick release alloy rims, and new Serfas bar tape. These are very hard to find (been looking for a longer one with no luck for a year +). The stem is an old logo and the bars are new logo. Stem is 100mm reach with the previously mentioned 22.0mm quill insertion size. $150 will not separate.
