Thanks for the update. I bet you have a bigger problem on your hands - your significant other. Started with budget $100 for a bike, final budget $4800+ and counting. Uh oh!
Anyway, your story fits the slogan "One Less Car" perfectly.

khatful; I'm pretty sure you could find a replacement engine from a junkyard, and some tools (great excuse to buy tools!), and do it yourself...for a lot less cash.

Psh... It'll buff out.
Sucks to hear that, man. And there's no way to actually fix that? Ugh... cars are needlessly complicated sometimes.

No worries

Khat, no worries. These guys are right, it is the sellers issue to hold the line and he/she had no problem so it is the end of the story. Sorry to hear about the auto problems.

I'm not mechanically inclined as far as cars go and, get this, our trusted shop that does all our work could only easily locate ONE used Subaru engine. Fortunately it has only 15000 miles on it. It was a god find anyway. The price also includes some more maintenance I need to do as well so it not as completely horrible as it might appear.

Believe me, if I could buff out a genie lamp and make it all better I would Yes they are complicated. And go figure, the fixie crowd thinks derailleurs are needlessly complicated

That's where you are wrong. You haven't tried to drive into our neighborhood in Mac/Groveland lately have you? You can drive into St. Paul, but you'll never come out alive with our snow removal strategies.

P.S. Don't be too hard on yourself over this bike deal issue. Fix the cash differential, and you are in "official" make good mode. I have lived through so many harbrained deals on CL and Ebay, that this one you described was not optimal, but fixable.

I've also found a nice case of beer works out disagreements rather well.

I am looking for one of these, but I just bought a very nice 1977 Trek TX700 frameset yesterday. Thankfully, again, it is half a country away from me. Looks great.

I'll post pics in a day our two of the Trek and start asking for everyone's input/help. Little change of pace for me, and I'll need some help to get this one set up properly.

I use Firefox w/o any difficulties:

1 Enlarge the view you want.
2 Right mouse over it -"view page info".
3 Choose the "Media" tab.
4 Click the "save as" button.

All Original Motobecane Grand Touring 58cm - $150 in the Bay Area

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/bik/1618695026.html

This seems super cheap for an all original, fine condition Grand Touring especially in the Bay Area. I've been on the fence for a few days about buying it, but six bikes in a one bedroom apartment is getting a little ridiculous.

Oops, forgot you could attach an image here. I was just trying to hot link it. I searched through the page source to find anything ending in ".JPG" - Talk about installing a thumb tack with a jack hammer, eh? :-)

Hmmm ... with IE I just enlarge the desired image on eBay, right click, select "Properties", cut the URL, back to C&V, click the "Insert Image" icon, paste ... done.

I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet, upon the seat
Of a bicycle built for two!

Kuwahara Brand Was $1000.00 new Asking 275.00 or best offer
Email for details.
