Trash or Score update: Mondia w/ Super Record

Posted about this some days ago and promised to post pics when it's cleaned up. Judging from the bad auction pics was hard, but it turned out to be a score, definetly. Paid about 100$ for it.

Lots of things to mention:

- Vertical dropouts on a frame from the seventies. Ever seen this?
- Titanium spindle swiss threaded BB (is this just super rare or could it even be valuable?)
- Lots of Super record first generation parts, including the pedals, also with titanium spindles
- Rare first generation Super Record seat post, 2 bolts with long flutes

Here's the pictures:

Thanks for any and all opinios, especially on that BB.

EDIT: Sorry for the bad pictures, will take it out in the sun and do some nicer ones soon.

SWEET score! You could either keep it as is, swap the parts to a pristine frameset (to make a show bike), or sell of the titanium bits and make a more utilitarian gruppo for it? Either way, you scored!

I used these on my first frame build. People were disinclined to use them because they were stamped steel instead of forged and they were a little ugly.

These were used on some cyclocross frames that Mondia made, they're Campagnolo 1060. See My Flickr set for my (er, my spouse's) Mondia frame. It's been repainted (bought it bare/blasted), and I had the dropouts chromed.

Top tube decal says "Wälti", that would be the bike store who sold the bike.

Euro auction yes, swiss auction site to be precise. BIN price was 90$, auction lasted for 5 minutes

Better pictures:

Thanks for all the compliments....

What a complete and total piece of c**p! I'd offer to dispose of it for you, but I'm only equipped to deal with frames 62cm or larger. ;-)

Seriously, wow! A hundred clams?? Score indeed. Are you certain it's a swiss thread bb? I had heard that if the 531 decal was in English, that meant British size tubing, which would mean English thread headset and bb. Swiss and French thread bb shells were supposedly only available for metric size tubing, which normally came with the Reynolds decal printed in French. But it could be a repaint (tho I doubt it), or they coulda been out of French tubing stickers at the time. And FWIW, from what I know of Mondias, this looks to be a late 70's or maybe early 80s bike: https://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=24331

Anyway, that's one sweet bike. If it fits, ride it and enjoy the heck out of it!

BB is definetly swiss, it says 35 x 1. Could be french, but i really doubt it. Don't care much for unscrewing the fixed cup to find out

Think i will ride this thing, it fits very nicely and from the quick spin around the block it feels just great.

No, I don't think that's true. I working on about a '72 Mondia now, threads are French, original Reynolds decals in English. Seatpost seems to be 26.4. Fixed cup that came with frame supposed to be Swiss, but marked the same (35x1) as French bottom bracket I bought.

+1. My 1972 Mondia also had English Reynolds decals, but French sized tubing and French (not Swiss) bottom bracket.

(French (not Swiss) bottom bracket)

Anyone know what marking a Swiss fixed cup should have? My understanding is a Swiss bottom bracket is the same as French with a reverse thread to the fixed cup. My frame came with the fixed cup, I added a French adjustable cup and lockring.
