Miyata 610- 1000 based bikes

what other bikes did Miyata make for other manufactures? looking for bikes based on the 610 and the 1000 touring modelings..

my Univega Viva Touring I think is the same as the 610, It was made by Miyata, same frame etc..same weight, same triple butted tubing.

At least in the earlier 80's the 610 was Cr-Mo Frame and a "Magnalight" fork, which is Miyata's non-crmo tubing (I think it changed by the late 80's though)

The 1000 is full Cr-Mo frame and fork

They're not all 610 frames, I think he was listing similar touring bikes made by Miyata for other manufacturers, like you asked in your original question. The Specialissima was Univega's top touring bike and probably the closest univega equivalent to the 1000.

There were a lot of triple-butted miyatas and univegas in the mid 80s, they're all great. I have a 1986 miyata 210, I think the frame is pretty much the same as the 610 (triple butted crmo, mangalight fork) but they differed in the components that were used. Zaphod's right about the full crmo for the 1000, it also had 'splined' tubing. I don't think any univegas got the custom miyata splined tubing. Usually, the more higher-end touring models had more brazeons and better components. The top models by the mid 80s (1000, Specialissima) usually came with three bottle mounts, mid fork braze-ons for a front rack etc.

You can browse through the miyata catalogs for specs at this site, there's a lot of information there:

Cool, thats the first I've heard of that, I haven't seen a viva touring in person before though. What year is it? Could you post a picture of the tubing sticker?
