Motobecane Super Tour
I found this French tourer in a friend's garage. It is 1020 steel , with all original equipment in fairly decent condition. He rode it from Perth to Sydney (11 weeks) , in a previous life.

Most everything is untested as it's not rideable... the cables are broke or sticky. The chain and cassette rotate forward and back, but need attention. I cut the tyres off. The unusual wheel bolts (with a hex center) seem to undo easily. The bottom bracket, wheel axles and headset all seem in GC - tight and rotate freely.
Frame - some rust spots (where scratched) but overall GC with a lovely blue metal fleck
Rims - (old tyres were 28 x 1-3/8 x 1-5/8) reasonably straight with hardly any rust.
Headlight - glazed but undamaged
Mechanical odometer - Huret - glazed but undamaged, with rubber belt seemingly intact
Dynamo - Brevette SouBrite2 (?) in GC, and with some unidentified fitting next to it
Chainring - 52 teeth with guard in GC
Rear Deraillieur and lever - Sachs Huret Commander in GC - sticky cable
Cassette - moderately stiff and may need replacing or fixing if possible
Seat - no tears, but weathered and a paint splash which i haven't tried to remove
Brake levers and brakes - Weinmann symetric
Racks - Showa (Japan)
Bike Stand - Pleischer- mechanism GC but alloy weathered.
Pedals - bearings loose and have bad rust
Handlebars - bad rust spots
1020 sticker (in french) VGC
Made in France sticker on chain stay - one tear
Rear sticker - "Emil Lowe, Hamburg" - tears but FC
Is anyone interested in the bike , or otherwise as parts ? It is currently a little way out of Brisbane - east coast of Australia.
