80's Pinarello?

Alright folks, got my hands on what I think is an 80's Pinarello. Can anyone help with the model. The serial number on the bottom bracket reads D788. Check out the link below for some pictures. After checking out the Bulgier site, the only model I saw with this particular paint scheme was the Montello. But, mine has bridged chain stays. From what I read in other threads, the Montello bridgeless chain stays. So no clear cut answer. I got a couple of forks from the seller as well. I'll have to put pics of those up later. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Only one name comes up when I hear of an 80's Pinarello.

I can't help you though.

I can't help you but I can tell you that my '88 Montello has bridgeless chain stays and internal routing of the brake cable through the top tube.

I will move this to the C&V forum where you are likely to get a better answer. Good luck, she looks like a nice frame.

Boy, you guys don't mess around. Thanks for the quick response. After a second look at the Bulgier site, I'm thinking it may be a Record. Whatever model it is, I'm happy with the frame. I paid $100. I'm looking forward to my first bike restoration/build.

I take it you have SLX tubing? I have a Treviso with SL tubing. Did it not come with a fork? If so, what kind of fork are you going to put on it?

Don't know on the tubing. But, the frame sure is light. I've got a 1986 Bianchi with Columbus tubing that is much heavier than this. The seller gave me (2) forks. I'll have pics of those tomorrow.

There should be a sticker on the seattube that says Columbus SL or Columbus SLX. The Treviso has SL and the Montello has SLX. The fork crown will help differentiate the year.

I have that exact same frame. I also posted a 'what is it' thread in the C & V forum. They were never able to nail it down exactly, but they got close. Even posted a few pics of vintage catalogs to help narrow it down.

Regarding the fork crown, what should I be looking for?

Checked out those pics. I think it is a Record. What conclusion did you come up with?

After, I think, 84 the forks had investment cast crowns and they slope down. In the earlier versions the fork crown is horizontal. I also think that in the early 80's all of the Trevisos had SL tubing.
