Installing a VO Porteur front rack

Thanks to septacycles, I'm waiting for a great deal on the porteur rack. However, my 70's mercier only has 1 eyelet and I'm using it for fenders. The eyelet happens to be be in a spot where coming down from the tange, its not going to fit.

| | < fork
0 < eyelet.

That fork is right in the way of the eyelet. It actually works perfectly for a fender cause the fender hardware is coming from behind. But the tange is coming from the top.

What can my options be? Maybe just slip it through the quick release??

Hmmm, looks like my ASCII drawing didn't work. Imagine the eyelet in the middle of those 2 bars.

My bike has only one eyelet and I have fenders and a VO Constructeur rack mounted. I used spacers and a long bolt.

I've done this on a bike as well. The circular ring from threaded tube valves work great for this purpose.

Sure, any type of washers. I don't use the Pretsa valve nuts on my wheels so, like Puget Pounder, I use them for things like this.

I had a pair of eyelets brazed on for this, it just was not going to reach at all to the fender eyelet location.
