Just bumping. We are looking at alternative show venues, preferably one very close to Land's End, and very close to a Friday night pasta meal. A big win would be the same place, with meal being served in one area to interested participants, with the show going on basically at the same place.
Here is the official seat bag for the Dare.

Bumping again. I had a jersey made for the Dare, an unoffical C&V jersey, and it's now been tracked to a NYC sorting facility.
When it arrives, I'll check it out. It's wool and old-school design. It's not expensive, as good wool jerseys can be.
However, if it survives a ride and washing, I'll post pics, and see about a C&V jersey situation.
For Ironman folks, I'm still working on the Centurion jersey. My friend is fairly busy, but he's got several ideas.

I don't suppose any of those ideas include a silhouette of Don Johnson ...

I'm registered for the ride but am holding off on committing to which bike I'm bringing until I know if the Pelizzoli will be here on time.
And if Robbie and I are driving up together, which kind of geometrically increases the number of things that can be brung. As it were.

I just signed up for the 150km ride. Now I just need to build a suitable Dare machine.
This will be the platform, a Trek 1978 TX 900 (full columbus SL with some nice touches like a fastback stay, a flat fork crown, drilled out lugs, fork tab reinforcement):
This the bike as found in the wild; it's mainly campy NR with a shimano 600 crankset. The crank is going; I'll replace it with either a TA triple or a stronglight 99 double (with 45/30 rings). The ugly saddle is going; I'll replace it with a selle italia turbo. I may even go French with the derailleurs; I have a huret new success RD that can handle a lot more chain than the campy and super LJ down tube shifters that need a home. I'll keep the wheels as those are campy high flange hubs laced onto mavic open pro rims and the brakes (campy NR long reach).
The bike was designed to be a copy of an old school European racing bike, a pogliaghi actually, back in the day when real men ate cobble for breakfast, raced on crummy roads, and long reach brakes were the norm. The bike can take a pretty fat tire and has 32c tires on right now. I'll swap those out for 700 x 28 tires, probably panaracer paselas although I'm tempted to pick up a pair of panaracer gravel kings given the bike's heritage.

@RobbieTunes @iab '88 Paramount build is done. Waiting for it to stop snowing (seriously) in Madison before I can take some decent pictures outdoors with it. Will post in a couple days.

I'm sure this is a crazy idea (but no crazier than the Dare itself), but if enough people are interested, maybe we could take a jaunt up to Elroy Friday morning before the Dare, and ride the Elroy-Sparta trail? 90+ minutes by car from Mineral Point to Elroy, 33 miles of flat-as-a-pancake riding to Sparta, find someplace for lunch, eat, then retrace our steps.

No crazier than riding from Mineral Point to Mount Horeb for root beer.
Plus, getting up early on Friday helps you get attuned to doing it on Saturday.
Then you can do it on Sunday and ride another one, like from New Glarus or something.
Or, we could go to Hollandale, sit outside Dave's parents' place, and sing songs until he comes out to play.

Maybe. One thing I learned from this past weekend's Eroica ride: avoid the day-before warmup, also known as The Opener.
Day after, sure, I'll be exhausted anyway. But the day before, I'll be hanging out and yabbing. Keeps these 65 year old legs somewhat fresher.
So to speak.
