Campagnolo Rally: Set-Up Question
I was wondering how the inner limit (small cog in the rear) is set using a Campagnolo Rally rear derailer? I am using it on a frame that is 126mm spaced and a 7 speed freewheel (13-32). The chain is getting hung up between the rear drop out and the small cog. Last Time I set his RD up, I had no problem using the exact same set up. What am I forgetting?

You'll probably still need to adjust the limit screws even if the rear spacing was the same. All frames area little different and even wheel and freewheel even if it used the same size freewheel. The derailleur hanger could be slight out of wack also and not straight with the wheel.

You might need to add a washer to the freewheel side and redish the wheel. As said, every frame is different.

I don't think there is an extra limit screw. The screws on mine have a funny looking plastic "cup" surrounding them. I guess they are a sort of guard to help keep them from bending.

You mean the black "safety" cups Bob? If so, those were introduced after the CPSC mandated changes to the bike parts in the late '70s or so.
Not too familiar with the Rally Fender1 , but yeah, should be two screws. Only have one?

The high gear limit screw is to the right of the cable pinch bolt. The head faces the front of the bike.

If the derailleur is shifting the chain too far, guiding it off the cog so it falls between the cog and dropout, you only need to trim the limit screw. v1 Rally has high limit screw mounted forward of the cable anchor bolt. v2 Rally has both limit screws in the rear, just like an NR rder, should be obvious which is which.
[Edit: corrected reversed v1/v2 explanations; v1 is the one that looks newer, with the forward-facing body and new upper body casting. When the molds for v1 wore out, Campy switched to v2, which looks like a standard Nuovo Record rder with a long cage attached.]
If the der guide pulley travel is limited so it is properly centered under the small cog, but when you downshift to a larger cog the chain hits the inside of the dropout as it tries to leave the small cog, then the freewheel is too close to the dropout. Often when this happens the upshift into the small cog is fine, the downshift hits the drop. First pull the freewheel to make sure there aren't any washers/spacers between the freewheel and hub, unless you're sure there aren't any. If the freewheel isn't shifted towards the drop with spacers, you'll need to add a washer to the right/drive side and redish the wheel (already mentioned).
Might be a good time to make sure the derailleur hanger is straight, bent inwards or outwards that can cause high/low problems as well.
