Keeps sweat out of the head if made from a wicking material. You do rinse your helmet after every ride right?
Keeps the rain out - to an extent (see rule 9)
Scalp protector for those that are folically challenged. Don't need the zebra stripes
Mild weather warmth

You mean Alien DNA...
Seriously, what I know of motorcycle helmets, and I have no reason to believe that the bike helmet companies operate differently, is that they manufacture for round (depth = width) aka the Asian fit or regular (depth > width) fit. You appear to be the third ( depth >> width) type aka the arex fit...

So it's only visible when reflecting? If so, thats definitely cool and smart with the amount of evening riding you do.

Tape's pretty cheap, I think you can splurge and go get it now... especially since it's dark all day where you live. (I used to live in Copenhagen)
My wife is traveling to Stockholm at the beginning of December for a business trip and I GLEEFULLY pointed out sunrise and sunset in December in Stockholm.
For posterity, this is what I bought - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010AUXPQ
I know when I'm out riding and I see a jogger coming towards me, the tiny little reflective bits they have on (shorts, shoes) make them much more noticeable than joggers with no reflective bits. Of course, a light is even better and some joggers use lights too, bless them. The color or lightness of clothing is nearly irrelevant at night.
Of course, I also wear one of these at night: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LW48D8E It's a little dorky but what the heck, nobody knows who I am anyway so I'm safe from scorn.

If Santa's reading this, I could use a pair of full fingered gloves. I Nearly froze my digits off on a brief 5 mile ride last week, and the temps were only in the mid 30s. To think I used to commute in temps under -20F AND I work in a frozen food warehouse so I'm actually pretty used to the cold. Dunno what happened to the pair of pearl izumi full fingered winter cycling gloves I had, I've been wearing paper thin yard gloves over my summer fingerless gloves.
