Derailleur identification...

Howdy all. I figure I'd post this question in this section since the bike I've got a question about is my commuter (25 miles/day, 4/5 days per week).

Does anyone know how to identify a derailleur? I'm trying to ID my rear derailleur - it's a Dura Ace on an '08 Fuji Cycle Cross Pro - I'm wondering how to find out what model Dura Ace it is? As in - might it be a Dura-Ace RD-7800SS rear derailleur? Is there a way to tell?

I'm wondering b/c I need to replace my cassette - I'm thinking about doing w/ the Ultegra 11/32 cassette, but I want to make sure it'll work before I order it - not sure how to check, so I figure if I can ID my derailleur that'd be a good start?

Thanks in advance for all your help/advice!

Got any pics?

The part number should be stamped on the back, like this:

Bingo - thank you!! RD-7800 it is.

'Nother question...

How do I find out if the cassette I'd like to get will work with this - anything that goes from 11 or 12 up to 32 or higher, such as the Shimano XT CS -M771? Any suggestions on how to tell? Or even if the Ultegra 10 speed 12/30 will work (Ultegra CS-6700 12/30 cassette)?

Thanks again!!

Well fudge...did some research, looks like 27 is the 'factory' max, but it's possible to go up to a 28...anybody have any thoughts on doing so?

Spec for max teeth is always conservative, going over by 1 should be fine. You might have to tweak the "B" screw to make sure the upper pulley is riding far enough away from the big cog.
