... and I don't regret not driving my car at all.

That could be my fate this afternoon. Big storm is supposed to roll in late this afternoon/early evening. Old Marine mantra: "If it ain't rainin' we ain't trainin'."

Light rain yesterday, it was so light it didn't even spray my glasses. (Fenders help a lot!) When I got to work the front of my jersey was wet, but the back was almost dry. That's the opposite of a normal ride. The free sweat was a blessing!

No kidding!
I hate riding in the rain so the drought has at least one positive aspect for me, but I'd happily take a soaking for the cause...

Rain is in the forecast for my ride home this evening too, with temps in the upper 50s. What a change in temp from this last weekend!

I drove today 1. so my wife could have an evening out. 2. just because they are calling for 60-70% thunderstorms this evening 3. I rode 24 miles in the rain last evening. I kinda hope it does so I don't feel so bad about driving instead of riding.

I rode home in a gentle rain last night which was just fine.
It's supposed to rain all day today and a good chunk of tomorrow, - not so happy about that.
Was just thinking what a great summer it's been weather-wise and now we're getting a preview of Fall already. I really don't care other than that aspect of it. I really enjoy summer and am sorry to see it coming to an end. By mid-September I'll be over it and enjoying what Fall has to offer, but I suppose that fenders will have to go back on the bikes.

In our area, there's a 20% chance of scattered showers. However, there's a greater chance of thunderstorms on the day some of us are meeting for a happy hour, at a popular brewpub near a MUP. It'll be a good test of how quick my quick-drying shirt, socks, and shorts will dry. Just about everyone else will also be a cyclist, so we'll be able to commiserate over beers at least.

I actually like riding in the rain, but I'm hoping to leave this afternoon before the actual storms hit. I cannot remember a time when we were pushing the 4th week in August and it had been May green all summer. Sorry for those of you suffering drought. Would send some your way if I could.

Started raining as I was changing into my biking clothes. Light rain and a nice tail wind made for a fun ride home.

I got pretty wet in the four mile bike ride to the station. I usually do; today it was rain, yesterday it was sweat, not really much difference. Then I put on my fleece and sat in a refrigerated train for an hour. Good times!

Got pretty wet as well, though it wasn't raining. Dang humidity - it grabs you like a blanket.

Even getting caught in a downpour on a bike is not a big deal if you have the right clothing. The bigger issue is that cars have a harder time seeing you and stopping, so it's a lot more dangerous to be out. Light rain I don't even think about. No problem.

Getting wet is one thing. Getting struck by lightning, pelleted by hail, blown over by wind gusts or caught on flooded streets are something else. I am soaking wet from sweat after nearly every commute in spring, summer and fall around here. However, I avoid riding in stormy weather for the reasons mentioned above.

Tuesday's "commute" home from the coffee shop office
Only regret (not really), 4 inch tires and no front fender makes for messy legs

Yesterday's forecast called for 100% chance of thunderstorms, wind gusts up to 20 mph, and flash flood warning - all in the late afternoon/evening. I witnessed none of these things on my evening ride to the brewpub for our monthly happy hour.
I got some sprinkle on the ride home after the happy hour but that's about it. One of the fellow local cyclists at the happy hour pointed out that summer rain is fine, but I should look for gear for colder rain conditions. He said if I could protect my extremities I'd be fine.
