Sturmey Archer 3 Speed Shifters
I have a quick question about Sturmey Archer 3 speed shifters: do they come in 23.8 sizes or are they all 22.2?

I have a trigger shifter on my older Bropmpton T3, it has a 15/16" tube handlebar, aka 23.8 mm.

Bend the clamp on a standard trigger out slightly, that's how I did it. They're steel, they can take it. As Fietsbob said, you may need a longer screw, and I'm not sure what the thread in that special nut is. Knowing SA, it may well be a Whitworth one, like the axles...

Or...just use a nut to match the longer screw, which only has to be about the same diameter and can be any thread.

As Fietsbob mentioned, 23.8 mm is really 15/16", as opposed to 7/8" (22.2 mm).
Bending the 7/8" clamp out to 15/16" and fitting a longer bolt is sometimes, but not always, possible. It helps to file the nut into a wedge shape.
