57 miles in chilly and windy conditions. Started at 6:30am and stopped for breakfast at 9am. That coffee tasted very good.

42f, 8 to 15 mph wind, overcast with a low cloud-deck, very damp feeling.

Ran 37 miles in the Denton Turkey Roll. Heavy wind on the rebound, 18MPH with gusts to 30+. No problem for my Catrike, but my wife on her Hybrid....now she wants a Catrike too!

It was 60* so I had to go for a ride. I did 20 miles in about an hour and then went out to do yard work.

I was surprised that I felt good during the ride since I ran a 5K and pulled the engine out of my car yesterday.

I have got to start riding in the mornings when there are little to no winds. Thirty miles today in 84º temps, 10-12 mph winds and plenty of killer wind gusts from start to finish.

Took a slow ride today with my wife, who has back and led issues. About 8 miles on the Airline Trail in Eastern Connecticut. Weather was just about perfect here in new England today. Cleaned and lubed the bikes up when we got home.

No riding for me this weekend but I did get to see our daughter earn first place in both uneven bars and floor at her gymnastics meet. She received second place all around too.

She's pretty excited. Lots of hard work put into these results. Of course we're very proud of her too.

Rode thirty-five miles this afternoon to a town north of Dothan called Headland. Beautiful southeast Alabama town with a park in the square. Weather was perfect, slight easterly breeze, upper seventies, partly cloudy, not much traffic. I actually found a tree older than some of us in this forum:

Back in the groove...

Last year, on my 50th, I restarted the sport after 25 years and quickly fell back in love with a good ride. I don't know why, but this year I've had a hard time getting back to it...hot summer, busy work schedule, etc, etc,

Went 11.5 miles yesterday for the first time in a month (and only the second time this distance this very lazy year....have been doing about 8-9 miles every two weeks or so). We have a lot of hills in Winston-Salem, so it was a challenge, complete with leg cramps, but I'm ready to go back out again today while the temps are comfortable. Today, though, I take the flatter route, scale back to about 8-9 miles, and try to prevent the cramps.

I'm interested in keeping it going as the weather gets colder, but obviously need more gear. Of course, the LBS will sell me everything, but what do I really NEED? (I'm talking temps between 30-40; I'm not ready to get out below freezing just yet!)

I'm down to shorter rides than I made early in the season, partly because I got 'stale' (possibly just worn out), then I hurt a knee and took a couple of weeks off.
So I did a 15 mile ride on Saturday, avoiding a few hills, then a 12 mile ride Sunday, with a few extra hills. I'm just glad to be riding at all after being hit by tree branches hanging off a pickup truck the weekend before.

What a nice guy driving the truck though. He didn't even trouble himself to stop. Maybe he thought I would hurt him. (no injuries occurred)

I had a nice 25 mile ride today in 77º temp with 10 mph winds. It was a change not to get blasted by wind gusts that almost knocks the bike over. Tomorrow is suppose to go into the mid 80's and should have the same winds as today. I have grandson babysitting to do in the morning so lets see if I even get to ride at all tomorrow.

A personal best for me today over a time I set 10yrs ago; I'm all about enjoying the moment, and normally don't give a hoot about shaving time off distance, but it was a significant milestone.

A shower came up at the beginning of the first ride, so I returned to base. The second ride began late necessitating a sense of urgency to squeeze it in before night fall. On a particularly narrow section of hill side road I encountered a bull, and he ran along side for a long way, cutting back and forth in front of me. There were several exciting moments anticipating what his next move would be. Toward ride end I took a break at an outlook 500ft above my valley, it was a special view with blue sky and fast moving clouds, then complete darkness moved in with high wind, all in about 5 minutes (way cool like a Cecil B. DeMille movie scene). Having only a red Frog Light with me I was nervous about visibility to others, and spinning as fast I could on the route back to base.

Rode 10 miles for the last three days , 68 total for the last ten days . Getting back into regular rides after a few months off. I feel better than I have in months. Now I'll be able to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner .

A good winter weight jersey, jacket, and tights may help, along with shoe covers. A stocking hat or balaclava for really cold weather, maybe some wider tires for better traction.

Uh, about a mile and a half on city streets trying out a bike I was thinking of buying. Fuji Absolute 2.0 with disk brakes. It is a leftover 2011 and the price seemed pretty good. I was the first person to ride the bike ever, and it wasn't really tuned very well. I really liked the brakes, but I'm probably going to pass on the bike. Still kind of stuck on the Jamis Coda Comp. No 2011's left around here that I can find in my size and the 2012's won't be in for a few months.
