Birthday ride

Another year, another mile added. 56 miles in 2 hrs., 50 min., 4 secs. 19.8 mph average. Nice and windy. Rode from Ventura to Santa Barbara and back. A gorgeous day on the central coast.

Happy Birthday.

How I wish for the flat roads and a tailwind for the ride. That is the only way I could keep up and average like that for any ride. It would help if it was a downslope aswell.

Well done on the ride but I think a handicap system will have to be inaugerated soon for those of us in hillier Climes.

And Happy birthday too.

Pie?

Great job on the Birthday ride!

Was there any pie to be found in Santa Barbara?

If the cherries weren't from this year, they don't count. You'll have to repeat or face a possible disqualification (not the ride, just the pie).

That sounds like a great B-day ride. Happy, belated, birthday.

Happy birthday, Neil, and congrats on a great ride. Wish I could hold that kind of pace for 50+ miles.

Just had my 56th birthday, too, but did not ride my age. You're a better man than I am. Happy Birthday!

According to the Official Birthday Ride Rulebook, which I make up as I go along, you can ride your age any time during the year.

Ride your age can be be done anytime- but my birthday is in January. Rode mine yesterday but I am also counting it as a Metric- A century ride- First Night ride- First group ride and anything else I am expected to do this year. That is just coverage for this year though. Come January and it all starts again.

Yeah, what he said! Great ride Neil! I am also 56 and am still trying to kick my solo averages up over 15mph so I still have a ways to go.

Nice pace Neil and Happy Birthday. It seems you're getting faster with age.

Thats a beautiful area to ride. Next week I'm riding the Ojai Century and also the Cool Breeze in Aug which both go along that section of coast.
