Lousy spring day in SoCal mountains

Went for a ride yesterday afternoon up the local climb, 11 miles up, and about 2500 feet of elevation. Thinking that I hadn't beat myself up enough, I did it again this morning after getting off work. Lousy day. About 70 degrees, sunny, and short sleeve and shorts weather in March. Hating life. LOL
Crystal Lake Bowl after last weekends snowfall
Mt Baldy after a dumping plus 70 degree days.
Ride partner (Mr Beanz) at top of climb.

Tough weather to ride in. Hang tough, it'll get better. Lucky me, we had nice 20 mph winds with rain for today's ride. It beat the heck out of the snow we got last week. (I'm a weather wimp. I did not appreciate being snowed on during my ride. That's for those Mid-West and Colorado tough folks.)

Think I'll ride GMR today with my son. Hope it is clearer near the shack than down here on the valley floor.

Oh, come on, man. HTFU, it's in the 70s. Get rid of the arm warmers.

Actually, I'm pretty envious. Looks like a beauitful place to ride.

OK, more pictures to show just how lousy the weather was that day.

Hillbasher on the road again!

Good photos Hillbasher and Beanz!

I was on the Solvang Double Century last weekend, so couldn't get to GMR. Join us if you like this Sat. with an 8:00AM click in from Boulder Springs.

Looks like Linda, Lou Ann, Maria, Cary and myself so far. The plan is to ride to the Village, then do the Ski Lift climb (Cary's still a Ski-Lift climb virgin), descend to Mt.Baldy Lodge for lunch, then ride GRR back to the junction, descend to Camp Williams, then back up again and descend back to Glendora. Should be about 9,000 ft. of climbing total.

Should be fun! Any other 50+ SoCal riders are welcome to join us for part or all of the ride. Boulder Springs is the street at the only traffic signal on Glendora Mountain Road. Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day.

On the upside we live in a completely dysfunctional state, high taxes, roads falling apart, no end in sight. And it might rain one or two more times before we really get to the good weather

Thanks for the invite Rick, looks like fun. But Gina's father passed this week and she has been in charge of the arrangements and going crazy tracking down info and appointments. Lots of visitors from out of state and services are Sunday/Monday.

Not sure if HB will respond but he works nights and can't make ride times earlier than 10 am. Plus IIRC, I believe he was going out of town or on vacation (?). If I happened to make it, I'd only go to the village, those women would kill me on the lifts.

And that's different from the other 49 states how?

Don't want the arms to get burnt, do you? Actualy, it was more likely in the 60's, the 70's just sounded better.

Keep an Eye on Beanz

Thanks for the nice pics, HB! GMR is definitely on my bucket list and I fully intend to do it in the next year or two. Looks like Beanz is relieving himself on your bike there... I would definitely keep an eye on him in the future.
