That's not such a bad idea actually Jon...how about it Joe...maybe have some Team Jersey's to raise some cash for the forums???

JonR, you took the words right out of my mouth, er, off my screen, whatever. Anybody ever design a team jersey? Where does one have them made/printed? Ba-Dg-Er? Mike? Steve? Anyone? What do you think, Joe? It could be and all dotcom jersey. Think Performance.Com and REI.Com want in? Other sites? Riderx? One of the local racing clubs just had new jerseys done (I am on the email list but don't belong to the club...yet). They were charging $60 for the second, et seq, as the club was subsidizing the first. With all my talk about cheap clothes, there are some things I am willing to open the wallet for, and a Team BikeForums.Com jersey would be one. Hey, there is the pro Team Ibanesto.com, why not us?
What would our colors be? Any suggestions? I really like purple and gold (LSU, '72, thank you very much. Rainbabe, too, as well as two daughters and my Dad. As the bumper stickers say "I bleed purple and gold"), but I know not everyone sees the beauty in that combination. It's Joe's forum. Maybe he should decide. No pink and black. Can't get that rear view image of Jan Ullrich in the drops out of my head. And not in a good way. Got to be light colored. Have mercy on those of us in Tuscon, San Angelo, New Orleans, and Atlanta/Augusta.
Regards,
Raymond

Ba-Dg-Er: glad your back!!!! It just felt weird not having you on the forums. Are we becoming one big happy dysfunctional cycling family or what, here??? ha ha.. I think the jersey idea would be awsome if we can get it done.
Also, seems like we have a new(and very eager) road rider in our midst. Nebill or should I say Fuji dude just got a road bike. It is fun to read his posts!!! Like goin back in time. anyhoo, just wanted to STICK AROUND. ride long and prosper. Stan

You are now hearing from Mr. Jersey Ignorance himself--I've never owned one! All I know is that most of them have three pockets on the back. Since I like traditional stuff, I would like that.
I would like short sleeves. If short-sleeved jerseys also have zippers, I think a 3/4-length zipper would be good. If not, fine!
My favorite color is yellow, but I believe that color is reserved for Lance Armstrong. My least favorite: blue. Second least favorite: green. All other colors are great.
But my problem is more one of money than of taste. If the finished product is going to cost more than, say, $35, I will probably have to bow out. It's just a fact of life, not that I wouldn't like to support a worthy cause.
Thanks for your effort re: contacting the manufacturers, etc.
And, by the way, I'm very happy you came back.

Ba-Dg-Er,
Like JonR, a simple, three rear pocket, half zip (or whatever length) would be fine. Short sleeve 'cause you can always put on long sleeves under it or arm warmers.
It would be REALLY nice if we could get them made out of Coolmax Alta fabric. I love that stuff for riding in this steam bath known as New Orleans.
Regards,
Raymond

Hey Ba-Dg-Er -
My newly formed school bike club/team ordered out team jerseys and wind vests from Verge (www.vergesport.com), and thus far we have been very happy with them. They have been an excellent company to work with.
Also, the shop I work at orders all of it's custom and team jerseys from Louis Garneau (www.louisgarneau.com). They are a little more expensive, but they have a very quick turnaround, and they make a very high quality product.
I don't know if you've contacted these companies or not, but I just thought I would throw a few more names in the hat. I would recomend either company very highly.

Ba-Dg-Er,
I rmember when I was in the old country, we use to ask businesse(company) if they want their name or logos in our jersey and then we charge these company, like if they want the logos/name in the front its more expensive, but usually the breast (front is reserved for the club) so the company/logo goes, on the sleeves, on the side of the jersey, at the back , on the collar, if you get several company to advertist in the jersey, the cost of the jersey becomes very cheap, Buddy, why don't you take alook on this one, , these will surely make cost of the jersey really really very cheap...

and this way the cost will be very affordable, and my friend Jonr can afford it, and count me in too, with the cost like less than $30.00.US. that gonna be a cheap jersey, and the bikeforum.com, will now be self sufficient, and Joe doesn't have to worry where he will get the next mooooolaah to pay for this site..... and no more co-branding, with other sites.......

I'm in!!!
I'd go along with the short sleeve, three pocket idea, with the longer zipper.
I've seen the Louis Garneau catalogue, and agree they make good stuff.
Let's leave yellow for the TDF, and pink for Telecom. Any other color is fine with me, but I prefer not to be a riding billboard!

hi, Ba-Dg-Er! I'm glad you're back! I think I've been gone way too long myself!
I'm in for the jersey! I've never had one with all the neat colors and such. I have only bike-type jersey right now. I would definitely want one with BikeForums on it. My main requirement would be to have some sort of cool-max type material...something that wicks away moisture efficiently.
Just give yet ANOTHER reason to shop, right?

Cool!!!
Yeah a traditional, 3 pocket short sleeve jersey sounds like the way forward!!!
I'm also gonna have some stickers made up to advertise www.bikeforums.com on my bikes.
It's gotta help, right Joe???

Servus!
All I want to say is MAKE SURE YOU GET THEM BIG! I don't want to buy an XXL and still look like the jersey was sprayed on my fatness from a can. I personally like Earth-tones myself (dark greens , beiges , khaki ) and would rather not have something that screams my apperance in the woods. Then again, I think that's the soldier in me talking
SO long as the aren't Telekom pink, I'm happy! BTW Badger, I'm still looking for your jersey, but with some difficulty. I'll keep you informed as soon as I have it.

I think we should use Joe's avatar as the "design" no-one would get the meaning but us! And a nice understated "Bike Forums" with the address on the front.

Ba-Dg-Er maybe we could have Joe post several colors online, and we can survey BFC for choice of colors or designs. I don't mind colabeling with a sponsor, as long as BFC is the predominant theme. Also, since I commute, I would rather not be in stealth mode, (make it bright!...but NOT PINK!!!) Sorry Ranger dark colors are cool, but not when commuting!

Hi, I'm new to the forum, been slinking around for just a few weeks. Been away from bikes for a bunch of years and now back with fervor. I've gotten a bunch of great ideas and advice here already and would love for my first jersey to help support bikeforums.com! I've looked at lots of other sites and a couple of other forums and I have to say you guys are the best.
Thanks Joe for a super place to hang.

Joe, just an idea here...
How about not only jerseys, but also t-shirts? Some of us, especially commuters, would feel a lot more at home cruising the streets in our brand new crispy white BikeForums.com t-shirts. I know it's a lot of work...jerseys and t-shirts, but I think it would be worth it...great advertising.

Badger and Joe, you might find that custom JERSEYS will be expensive. It will be interesting to see what you come up with, but biking jerseys go for $50.00 to $60.00 off the shelf. Add custom designs, and it might get heavy.
As an alternative, we could silk screen T-shirts. We could have long and short sleeve versions.
If we stick to a single color, it would be pretty easy to do. Even I could do it. In fact, I HAVE done it.
Would a single color T-shirt be of interest to anyone? Perhaps even a small design on the front and a larger design on the back?

I'm always interested in adding to my T-shirt collection, but as with the jerseys, price is going to be the main consideration here.
Even if the jersey idea turns out to be viable, the T-shirt would still be good, because some of us do spend some time away from our bikes and the T-shirt would allow advertising the Forums during those deprived moments.
Also, I ride in T-shirts, since I don't (yet) possess a jersey.

I just ordered my first jersey yesterday, so I'm not that familiar with the types, but I have the same request as Ranger. I'm not interested in an expenisive jersey that looks like it was sprayed on.
