The 112mph BICYCLE

"Bike shop owner has set a new world record after inventing a bicycle that can travel at more than 110mph.
Jason Rourke, 42, spent 10 days building the super-strong mountain bike which cost a total of £5,000.
Motorcycle racer Guy Martin commissioned Mr Rourke to make the bike which he pedalled into the record books
at 112.94mph (181km/h) earlier this year."

Looks like it was motor-paced, but I believe the current record for that is by Rompelberg at 167 mph. So it's not clear what record he set.

Yup.. I remember when it was John Howard at a 152mph, have to admire Rompleberg... he was 50 years old at the time he set his record, damned impressive!

I've exceeded 160mph on motorcycles many times. It's unimaginable to me doing it on a bike.

going to all that trouble, and then looking at the wrong record to go after. I'll bet that's embarrassing.

I believe from some Googling that it's a British record. They must not have salt flats...

I'm thinking that this was just something for the "Speed with Guy Martin" TV show and he says to the reporter "I actually went faster than the world record for unmotorpaced cycling" and then the reporter wrote it up that way.

I watched the episode in the UK, bike had a double chainwheel system, they used a truck with a large rectangular windbreak on the back which made an airpocket behind for him to ride in, it was a british/european record he broke and the show was excellent to watch!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7nXNzpOyIc
