Ladies you have been forewarned. This is not a female topic.
I warned them.
Okay this past summer as I was riding, long rides(100+ milers) I started having a problem. First I will admit I was wear cutoff blue jeans at the time, not cycling shorts. The problem was very simple. I kept getting rubbed(shall I say) the wrong way...and definitely in the wrong place. I kept getting rubbed right on the ring of the peanus, aka the widest part of the peanus just before it starts to funnel down to the point. It would get nice and sore for a couple of days and even turn red in color after doing a long ride. I didn't have any kind of problems on shorter rides. I had no chaffing of any kind or anything else. I just kept getting rubbed raw on the body side of the peanus.
Finally in August I bought a pair of cycling short and I figured the problem was over. It was...for 1.5 months or so and then it came right back, even while wearing cycling shorts.
After it had happened on the first couple of rides this spring I got to thinking on one of the rides about needing some kind of protection. The crazy thought of a condom came to mind. Then the crazy thought of just using saran wrap to wrap the peanus before the ride came to mind. I tried it out before the next long ride I did, a 207.8 miler. It worked great. Didn't have any trouble at all. Normally even now I can eliminate the possibly of the problem coming up by wrapping the peanus with saran wrap. The problem though is getting the saran wrap to always want to stay on. Last week on a 100+ miler it kept coming off all the time. I hadn't had that problem until last week. Today on the 100 miler I did I was trying out the idea of wearing a full body wetsuit for cold weather protection and even with a much loser clothing fit down there I still ended up getting rubbed raw yet again. I didn't try wrapping it today though.
Has anyone else had the problem and found a way of eliminating it? This has definitely gotten to be a royal pain in the .............

Between this and your wetsuit thread in the winter forum I'm really starting to wonder.
But in case you are serious, have you tried chamois cream? Though it doesn't sound like its the chamois that's rubbing.

You might try a rubber band to hold the saran wrap on. But be careful, that's how they make steers. In case you don't know, a steer is a castrated bull. So seriously, don't do this.

Give this man a Darwin award NOW.
1. Stop riding until your raw and abused scrotum heals up.
2. take a look at your riding position, esp saddle layback, height and angle.
3. Check your saddle, does it fit you. If not, try another.
4. Dont ride in jeans.
5. Dont ride long distance until you have conditioned yourself. You need to extend the distance very gradually.

Saran wrap doesn't "breath" and could potentially lead to a fungal infection. You think it hurts NOW?

I ride in 'normal' clothes all the time -- for me, this means jeans. I know this problem. Some individual pants are worse than others, some are OK when I'm 'slimmer' but not when I'm 'fatter' or vice-versa. Tried spandex-style underwear, with little help. What works reliably is an old-fashioned, gradeschool gym class type, jock strap. Not the most comfortable thing, but it eliminates the even more annoying rubbing problem. For comfort's sake, I'll pack along some normal underwear and do a 'phone-booth' change when I reach my destination.

The jockstrap solution quit working and it was inconvenient.
Found something that makes it 98% better and it's easy: 3M 'Kind Removal' tape. I cut it to the right size & shape, rectangular close to square. I add a kitchen plastic wrap (Saran, etc.) strip across the center where I really don't want it to stick. Actually, have taken to pre-inserting a long strip of the plastic into the roll of tape. Cut pieces off when I need a fresh piece. Each one lasts a few applications before the adhesive gives up. Bring extras on the back of your credit cards, etc.

I rode for months, 3 pair of cycling shorts changed daily.
problem 1 OP wore Cut off Levis. thick seams
bike shorts chamois liner is made to feel seamless.
wear the bike shorts under some other bike baggies , perhaps.
also made to minimize seam locations where you sit.
And modesty, to not be so showing the 'mini-me' so much.

2. This could be some of the problem. I'll have to do some testing to see if it is or not.
3. It's the same saddle I've used for years. When I used to ride a lot back in the 90's I never had the problem...using the same saddle.
4. It doesn't matter if I'm in jeans, cycling shorts or a wetsuit.
5. I've ridden around 9000 miles so far this year. Including 3 200 milers and I've had at least one 100 mile day each of the past 14 weeks now. Some weeks I've had as many as 3 100+ mile days.
About the only I do is biking that or I'm sitting in from of the computer.
It's not on the clothing(cycling shorts/jeans/wetsuit) side of the body where the problem happens. It's on the side that faces the body. The only thing I can figure that I might be rubbing against is hair. I can't figure out why that would create a rubbing situation like this though. I've never had the problem until this year and yes in 1994 I rode 7-7,500 miles that year including several 100+ milers.
Runner's nipple...if this is what I think you are talking about...I got it several times this summer as well. It seemed like if I was ever stupid enough to put a shirt on and go riding for any kind of distance when it hot and a bit humid out I would end up getting sore nipples that would last about 2-3 times as long as the sore nuts. Most of the time I was just smart enough to ride without a shirt on at all. I don't think I ever got the problem without shirt but I might be wrong. If so it would have been toward the end of the summer.

I would put some horticortisone ointment on it and remain nude from the waist down in the evenings, for a few hours. I would absolutely keep that area dry, at all other times. After the ointment treatment in the evenings, I'd try baby powder during the day.
If it gets any worse, you might have to seek proper medical attention.

For noodle chafing: Ointment or lube for prevention. I use diaper rash ointment; A&D, or Butt Butter. There are others. For treatment I use A&D. Also, it's important to have tight enough shorts to keep things in place. Avoid bikini waxes too because the nubs can be murder.
For runners nipple, a band-aid works well.

Are you riding with a belt? I find that sometimes when riding with a belt the buckle will find the worst place to sit to is is constantly digging in or interfering with the free movement of my penis. Also make sure the pants are pulled up all the way... that will help keep your penis up and out of the way, and prevent the front top from bunching up uncomfortably.

I had the same problem several years ago. I found that a babies sock works great. It's breathable. Putting an ointment on the rash first helps to stick the sock in place also. I would bring along a handfull of socks on a long ride and change it out when needed.
