Rode at Applegate Lake, a man made reservoir just above the california border yesterday. There's some decent, non technical singletrack that follows the coastline around the lake.

Got out for a short loop today with Girlscout and some friends. I took it easy becuse I've been having knee problems. I took my saddle up about 3/8 in. and that seemd to really help alot. I 'm gonna be easy on it for the next few weeks and I hope that fixes it. Weather was good trails were in good shape, good times. Sorry no pics.

Got out yesterday and banged up my shin in the rock garden at the local Boy Scout camp. Found out that one of my old spots that is can ride to has been really worked on this summer and now is really sweet!

Now then, we're just about to begin the ride report proper...
Highrevs and I took another friend out to the Dark Mountain trail in North Wilkesboro, NC. There's a nice, relatively buffed cross country loop out there, and our plan was to take a leisurely spin around, enjoy the autumn colors, and take it easy in general. Awesome plan, right?
Well, all that ended when we met this dude (apparently my doppelganger) in the parking lot who volunteered to show us around. Warning bells started going off in my head when it was revealed that 1) he weighed 140 lbs 2) he was on an SC Superlight, and 3) he had played a significant role in designing the trails. He went on to say "I'm not much for the downhills, but I LOVE to climb." Frickin' great.
So we blast out of the parking lot, nowhere close to warmed up, straight up the mountain, and l'il ol' me pushing a 38-30 granny gear. Made the summit in about 20 minutes, the last fifteen anaerobic. To his credit, 140lb dude didn't give us too much crap (quite unlike riding with mtnbiker66). Then we got onto some rolling swoopy stuff along the ridge, and everything came together. Quite a bit of leaf cover in some areas, but not enough to really matter. Fun stuff.
The last loop we did popped out at the top of a short dh course they've got there - nothing real tech except for one sketchy quartzite rock garden in which I stacked it pretty hard.
After that, we headed back to the truck and highrevs picked up his photo gear. We went back and sessioned some fun spots on the lower half of the DH course, which yielded the following:
Off the back:
Bermy goodness:
An alternate line was spotted:
That rock's hard
"Gettin' BMXy," as Hambone puts it:
Then it was off to sample some Sweetwater 420 Pale Ales, tell tall tales, and make plans for a return trip.

Went for a 13 mile ride today. The day started off around 49 degrees and clear as a bell. 2.5 hours later it was 80 degrees! I took my time taking lots of pics and enjoying a really nice morning. Good times and only 1.5 crashes, woohoo!
(I should be smiling, but the camera caught me off guard, eh).
