Freaky Wind

Went for a short ride today, there's a trail that goes along a river for 6 miles pretty much ruler straight. well i wouldn't even call it a trail, more light hardpack dirt with gravel embedded in it. Its usually an ok workout if you pedal hard the whole time. Today there was a steady 25mph headwind the whole time. Turned the ok workout into quite a workout. But on the way back there was a 25mph tailwind, it was pretty sweet to effortlessly pedal along at 18mph. If I pedaled with a little effort I'd easily get to 25mph and noticed the wind was dead as long as i stayed at that speed. it was very creepy. It felt like there was no headwind or tailwind, as long as i kept that speed it was totally quiet. also a great cooldown from the first 6 miles.

I did an out and back ride once about 8 miles each way. On the way out I had a tailwind but didn't really realize it. I used half my water on the way out so I would have half for the way back. Turned around and the head wind made the ride back about twice as long as the ride out. That sucked.

I love getting that kind of wind. I just let it take me where ever.

early in the summer we had a 40mph winds, but otherwise sunny, i rode as long as i could into the wind, then turned around and it pushed me home, it was cool if i sat as upright as i could i'd go faster, and tucking made me go slower.
