Stick-E: 29er FAQ...a great place to start.

Given that 29ers seem to be one of the hottest noob topics that for some reason are flying under the radar on the search function...I've taken the time to post some links to 29'er topics.

Please read before posting on any of the listed topics. You will most likely either find your answer or find that you don't want a 7-page answer.

29ers and sex:

Most XCers seem to support their decision to get a 29er. Knowing your trails and riding style will make your decision something you will be happy with.

nice work. too bad in about two weeks people will be asking questions you answered with your links. something to the effect of..."i know there is a sticky, but i want to know, will 29ers be the only bike people ride?" and "what is the advantage to a 29er?"

What we really need is a thread on light building? Where is a new light for the Fall night riding season?

It's funny because just last night I did a forum search for "26 29er" just to see what would pop up & was amazed at all the repeating threads, & now here they all are!

Okay I've been wading through your linked threads and my eyeballs are starting to hurt from the 29er bashing/personal arguments/etc.. so I'm just gonna ask a few dumb questions right here! (BTW seems like a good resource). Would a 29er be better for mud and wet ground conditions, not so much climbs really not really asphalt either in this scenario, terrain=mud, wet wood chips, leaves general winter debris then say a 26" mountain bike? Does it really matter that a steel geared cheaper 29er weighs between 35-40 lbs? It's not like I plan on winning any races here. I just am looking for a good utility way to travel mud on the property without wasting gas.

As much as I hate the thought of 29ers getting their own sticky, it's necessary. At least then people won't have an excuse when they get burned for making a redundant 29er thread.

Although I appreciate the time taken to compile the original post in this thread, here's a newsflash: yet another sticky isn't going to stop stupid people from being themselves.

That's sorta what I was hoping to avoid....but I'm pretty skeptical too. If I don't decide to sticky it, I may just keep adding to it and use it as a place to direct people.

Another thought would be to set my profile page as a library of links....then do a quick-link from my sig. to my profile.

Too many stickies make the forum annoying...but if I do a profile of stickies...it may keep the place somewhat intuitive.

You could also just get whoever started the MTB FAQ thread to edit the links into the bottom of their original post...or do it yourself? Not sure if you can do that or not as a mod. That or the quick link profile idea would probably be best to avoid too many stickies.

I like that idea, but still don't think people will read it.

Win for having lifts to carry you to the top of the hill. I wish we had more DH stuff around here, but the most we have is only around 1000ish ft elevation change on the best trails, and all those trails you have to ride to the top (which does often make the DH part more rewarding).

Oh I know...they won't read it regardless where you put it because they don't want to have to filter through any information that isn't immediately pertinent to their questions. People in general are lazy. But that way you can always refer them to the MTB FAQ thread instead of adding another sticky to the list.
