Anybody have experience with this headset reducer?
https://www.bikemannetwork.com/biking/p/COMPHSRED/HD9904
I don't know for sure, but I would guess that the headshok on my cannondale is shot after 2+ years exposed to the elements. I'm away from it this week, or I could actually open it up and take a look. Anyways, I'm trying to figure out a relatively inexpensive solution to servicing/replacing the headshok. The cane creak doublexc headset looks pretty nice, but it's a little out of my price range at this point in the semester.
Long question short...is this shim/reducer thing going to be decent on my beater SS project or would I be throwing my money down the pooper?

Good topic, I didn't even know they made such a thing. I might look into getting one for my KHS this winter when I do the rebuild and replace the headset.

Cannondale's Headshok headtube is not onepointfive standard size. You will need the Cane Creek C'dale-specific reducer headset or a reducer specifically for Headshok applications.
Identiti makes the DaleDucer that is specific and can be had from Universal Cycles quite reasonably:

I had a reducer set in my (former) AS-X, supplied to me by Yeti. The installed and worked fine; but there wasn't any extra torquing on them, as I always had a dual-crown fork installed. Can't answer for how they'd behave with a single-crown.
I'm running 1 1/8" steerer on my Gran Mal too; but I'm using the Sunline reducer headset - - what an elegantly-engineered piece that is. I'd recommend one for anybody needing to size down and wanting a nearly-zero-stack solution.

My friend has a reducer headset on his DK Charger. He has never complained about the headset being loose and he runs a single crown fork. I don't know what model it is though.

hey! a thread back from the dead.
i recently bought a 1.5" stem by mistake and i have a 1 1/8" steerer tube/fork, etc. i was wondering if i could use these headtube reducers in a stem or would that just be suicide?
another question would be; does anyone make shims for 1.5" to 1 1/8"?
