AAaaahhhhhh...fresh powder!!

Can't wait for tonight's ride! First good snow of the year here in KS and I can almost guarentee that I'll be the only one on the trail. (Kansans are sissy-ghey-wads when it comes to winter)

Fresh powder is the best b/c there are no frozen ruts from the day before for my bike to follow. No squirrelly surprises. Just the quiet "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" noises from my home-spiked Bontrager Jones ACX's gliding across the padded singletrack.

A beautiful 45mph paved road descent was jammed right in the middle of my local trails to access a boat ramp to the river. I used to hate it, but I can't wait to smoke that one in "the white"!! Even if I do bite it on the curve...falling won't hurt b/c I'll just slide a couple-hundred feet

C'mon 4:30!

Wear some nylon wind-pants - - it's an exhilarating sensation to pick up 10 mph instantly by falling

The draft on the old twig and berries will be exhilarating as well.

Hmm...that's funny. I don't get a draft...but we wear clothes when we ride.

I raced at Dornwood Park and Hasting Hill in your area way back in the 90's. Are they still open to riding? Both were pretty good courses.

Hasting Hill? Never heard of it.

Dornwood's looking better these days. Tom Travis has been taking good care of the trails. The "big dip" is always filled with washed up logs and trash though.

My age is getting the best of me, Hasting Hill was by Lawrence and I raced that in 90 and 91. It's been awhile.

Ohhhh...well, there's a trail by the North shore of Clinton Lake that's pretty fun and as always...the Lawrence River trail. Quite a few duathalons there.

Maybe they renamed it.

Shoot, you're up there with Dminor now.

I've lived here since 96 and plan on staying until I'm dead. The riding is great both on and off road. Cross country racing used to be outstanding here with big races on the weekends. Now it's just a few week day series that I can never seem to do because Uncle Sam keeps sending me all over the globe. D lives only about 6 or 7 miles from me.

CRAP!!!

So I haven't been able to leave the hospital yet. What is it with freakin' "first snow MI's"? If they'd buy a bike, they wouldn't crap out when they try to shovel for the first time in 10 months!!

Looks like my ride's gonna be a night ride.

No...that's our director, hahaha.

I finally got out tonight but it was already dark and the pristine powder was molested by hiking boots.

It was still fun, but dang it's hard climbing snowy hills...even with spikes. I love night riding.

I would say no. No one around here uses studs when riding our shuttle trails/stunts in the winter.

They're running slicks. They went to do hill repeats after the stunts.
