Fork, Wheel and Disc Brake Combo

Morning all,

I would really appreciate some advice on this if someone has a spare few minutes. I own a Dahon Jack 2008 model which i use to commute to work each morning. being a lover of all things gadgety and shiny I wanted to pimp my ride up a bit and am looking at the following items to start:

Rock Shox Tora 318 Solo Air with Pop Lock forks
Shimano XT M776 Wheel Set

However i am stuck on which disc brakes to get. Someone told me that shimano wheels are only compatible with shimano disc brakes and i have no idea which brakes are good to get.

Would someone be able to tell me if all this gear is compatible or advise me on a different wheel set / brake combination.

Much appreciated
Bully

THe 776 is 20mm thru axle on the front hub. the 775 is a standard quick release. and the 770 I belive is rim brake. The first two are designed for centerlock rotors, however there are adapters available to use a 6 bolt rotor. Do you need a 20mm thru axle on the front wheel?

Thanks for the reply.

To be honest i do not need anything (nor do i know too much about what we are talking about here). I wanted to mod it up a bit and the forks i have don't have a disc brake mount.

I like the tora 318's i mentioned and basically want a nice wheel and brake set that go with it. The wheels i mentioned are in black like my bike but i have no real preference.

Would you have any other suggestions?

Much appreciated

They look great.

So could you tell me what disc brakes would be compatible with these? What are good brands etc

unless there's a new one, the tora doesn't take a thru-axle. I'm a big shimano fan, even like the hubs, but i'm not a big fan of the complete wheels... lots of companies make black wheelsets.
