04 Fox float RLC 100

Worth 80 bucks?

Here is the deal, I sold the Manitou for what I had in it ($100) with the express intent of upgrading it. Now I have a chance to buy an 04 Float for $180. It looks cosmetically descent and was rebuilt by fox in 07. During that rebuild it also had a new upper assembly installed. Claims to be mechanically perfect. Worth it? From what I gather the internals haven't really changed in the Fox float line, maybe this is why they retain their value so well.

I'd say so.

It's worth $80...maybe not $180.

Just make sure the steerer is long enough.

The last few that were sold on ebay were well north of 180 including an 04 for 290. It had 9.5in steer tube which probably played into it. The one I bought is 7in (ZS headset) which is all I need so I feel like I got a good deal. Can't wait til it gets here.

Personally, I think its a fairly good deal based on the cost of some of the stuff I've seen.

My main concern would be the structural integrity of the crown where the stanchions / steerer tube press in. (Are they still tight? Or are they starting to make that "click" noise from flex?)

The whole upper assembly has been replaced recently so it should be ok.
