Giant Yukon
I am a roadie, but looking to purchase my first mt. bike. Will not be doing "serious" off road biking, but looking for something stable and enjoyable to ride as a second bike. My LBS has Bianchi & Giant.
Any comment on the "Yukon"?

Giant bikes seem like good value, but their customer service is non existent.
Not sure about Bianchi.

My first real mountain bike was a Giant Yukon, 2005 model if I remember correctly. I loved that thing; good solid frame, very little chain slap and I felt really comfortable with the geometry of the bike. I thought it was a good bike for the price.

My thoughts exactly. I am an EX mountain biker that now has road bikes. If you are not doing serious Offroad then this might be OK. The frame will be fine- but the Components are are a bit low for any rough stuff. It would be good for Trail work and will go up hills if you have the power- but look at the type of riding you may want to do.

"Serious" off-roading would be very dull indeed, I think. I tend to do a lot of 'happy-go-lucky' or 'fun screwing around' or 'wow what a rush' off-roading. Seriously.
