didja ever notice
i realize that most people on this forum are hardcore mountainbikers who ride really fast for a long way every day and wear heart rate monitors and have sponsors and win races and that sort of thing...
but
for the ones on here who ride just for fun, did you ever notice that if you take some time off the bike, you come back sharper? technically speaking that is.

i didn't ride for i think 3 months while putting together my bike and my first time on i felt like i didn't know what i was doing. I since have ridden 3 out of the last 6 days and feel like i am twice as sharp as the first time back.

Sometimes it does work that way for me, I'll ride after some time off and just pin it.
And, alas, other times, not so much.
Not really sure why this is.

This is quite the opposite of my experience, even between different bikes and styles of riding. If I'm riding on the road four days a week, it still takes me a few minutes to get back into the flow of fixed gear or mountain riding.

I took a solid month off of mountain biking (running only) and came back back better, but I now cant clear some sections that I could before, but I do ride faster (as in I turn better).

He has many high end bikes...
I have seen pics of him in action.
I would bet he's a better rider than 90% of the folks on this board.

If I don't hit a trail at least once a month, I get pretty sketch.
Back when I lived within 4 miles of gnar trails, I would get burnout occasionally and after taking a couple months off trail, the first ride back would be exhilarating as all hell, but I didn't really feel sharper, just like I was getting more of a rush from it, that's all.

I think its true of every sport, even golf. The subconscious seems to keep processing and gets you ready to ride. Staying "light on your feet" keeps you good. Tension kills! Fear will either energize you or freeze you-YOU DECIDE!

I noticed that Flying W is now banned. I hope it wasn't under the assumption that he is Pete. Flying W is not Pete. You just have to read through his post history to see that they have different writing styles.

I don't notice that. I was awful the first time. Bad the second time. (was a few months in between) Decent third time.. and so on. Now I find that I don't need a full suspension. Want one anyways.

I been off the bike so long, I bet I'll be Tomac in a couple more weeks. Serendipity!

FLying V is not Gasro. I have proof. I saw flwing W smoking ciggies outside the quickimart with his full sussy Next bike. FW's a trolling hack potsmoking loser.
