With the snow, made the best of it.

Got some saddle time in with the mtb, and I have to say that I have forgotten how much fun it is to ride in the snow, but such a pain in the rear to clean off.

I rode in the snow a lot these past few days - first time, actually. It makes your bike have deep Vs and powertap hubs. I didn't clean mine, just brought them inside and let them drip. Then oil stuff.

I must be lucky with the snow I get. Last time I went out in snow on my bike I don't think it really stuck at all. Bit on the tyres and the seatpost end of the chain stays/seat stays, but that was it.

Got at least two snow rides in this year so far before the rain and warmer weather moved in. It's been raining heavy all week with temps hitting 40! This time last year we were breaking records for snow with 60 + inches for the year. Looking forward for the temps to fall so the trails will firm up.

Saddle is not there to be sat in. Stand up and be glad it's not a 40-minute moto . . . .

Hm, what's missing from this picture? For the record, the caption under this picture (taken from leelikesbikes.com) states that Lopes said this bike was hard to control.

With a bike like that, an extra couple ounces from a saddle doesn't matter. It's not trying to be light. Slamming it keeps it low and out of the way for turning, pumping, jumping, and tricks, but having it there is good for control's sake, as well as giving you somewhere to rest when you're not doing anything.
