WHAT? No 29er thread yet?
Just got signed up and looked over the forum and I noticed that there is no forum for 29er riders! Is that because they all post on this forum or there are no 29ers here? Just wondering.

OK! My bike is a Redline Monocog 29er which has 29 inch wheels instead of 26 inch wheels which is the regular size of most full size bikes. It is a single speed geared with a 32t chainring and a 16t cog. The frame is a 21" frame. The bike came with knobby tires of which I changed out with Schwalbe Big Apple balloon tires for street riding and not wear out the trail tires.

Still kicking.
Wait, isn't it called road cycling?

Alright blazer.
So, are you looking for a thread, or a forum? hmm? Perhaps if you weren't so busy "blaze"-ering you might know the difference.
Now, puff puff pass, my good man.

I think there's a 29er thread here now, Blazerwolf. This forum is cool - - no sooner did you ask for one but you got it.

I don't know if it is or not! I can ride between 12-14 MPH on the street. I guess it's all about the gearing. Mine are 32/16 and I am quite sure many of you can leave me in the dust! If your height makes a difference then maybe, but I saw a 5'4" girl on a 29er the other day and she didn't seem to mind those big wheels. I think it's more attitude than anything else. If you have a good attitude about your bike then the size doesn't really matter.

Oh, I think we're a pretty laid-back group here . . . but we certainly aren't above poking some good-natured fun at choices of words .

Next we will need separate forums for people riding 11s because they can't relate to people riding 10s.

I think the MTB forum needs to be broken down further:
And I think the sub-forums that deal with suspended bikes need to be broken down even more:
And then within each travel category, we need to break it down by geometry and then by tire size...or should we do tire size sooner?
- rigid
- hardtail
- full suspension
And I think the sub-forums that deal with suspended bikes need to be broken down even more:
- hardtail- Less than 4" of travel- 4" of travel and up
- full suspension- Less than 4" of travel- 4" to 5.99" of travel- 6" to 7.99" of travel- 8" of travel and up
And then within each travel category, we need to break it down by geometry and then by tire size...or should we do tire size sooner?

Found an intersting article on 29ers the other day. It was printed in Dirt Rag ten years ago, and Wes Williams explains how he invented the 29 inch MTB wheel as well as the "29 inch wheels are best and you're stupid if if you don't agree" 'tude that goes along with them.
https://www.dirtrag.com/print/article...egory=features
Also notable is the ending comments by Ross Shafer. He had sold Salsa to QBP by then so he had nothing to gain or lose by speaking his mind.

26 vs 29 is a more recent development...there have been a lot of "fights" before you came along...
And most were usually rather entertaining!
- rigid vs suspension
- hardtail vs full suspension
- v-brakes vs disc
- discs - hydro vs mechanical
- etc...
And most were usually rather entertaining!
