Someone made HT frames out of Beryllium. frame cost was $25,000. For some reason his business croaked.

Forget how much it costs, but this one's expensive: https://www.delta7bikes.com/arantix-mountain-bike.htm
And there's also that weird looking bike with no suspension, but a bunch of curved tubes that flex and act as suspension. Really bad description, but I can't remember what it's called.

I know it is expensive but I wish I could get it. That Cannondale Flash Ultimate is a full on XC Race bike that is used by Cannondale Factory Racing. The bike also weighs an astonishing 16 lbs.

It also has the DT Swiss Carbon Wheels with come out to almost half the cost of the bike at approximately $4000.

Honda RN01.

But you knew I would say that . . . and it was never a consumer product.

Hm, a lot of these bikes are expensive, but if I somehow got one, I'd sell and buy something else. How about an expensive bike I'd keep?

Good point. If a person has crazy money to buy that, why not just buy themselves a bunch of bikes they'd actually use and enough plane tickets to go places to bust them up?

Kind of what happens with jewel encrusted cell phones - between obsolescence and actual use, diminishing returns quickly show up.

Cost was all in the R&D as they were team only race/engineering exercise bikes.

Weight was comparable to other pro level DH bikes.

Very interesting piece of engineering. It solves one interesting problem: how to get a Rohloff type IGH to pivot better. Clever. Noticed in the page they say it's not for sale "at any price". Probably the company owner's pet/baby. Kinda of "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" or "I'll consider orders from people arriving on their personal jet".

^^ Heavier than it should be for an all-carbon fiber frame. Runs a Nexus hub as a transmission. They put the weight at 55 lbs. - - of course they went ridiculous with Double-Wide rims and 3.0 Gazz tires. Interesting concept nonetheless. More info here:
