300 mile ride
I'm doing a charity ride in July where you ride from London to Paris. I ride a rockhopper 29 and am looking for a new bike for this ride. I'm thinking a specialized SIRRUS PRO
CARBON. Will this work for me? I'm unsure about a full road bike and this looks more comforting with the straight bars. Any help would be appreciated. Would a full road bike better and will it be hard to ride?

Congrats on being able to do a charity ride from London to Paris. I bet the channel crossing is tough-Super Balloon TIRES? Just kidding.
I think a flat bar would be my choice. BUT if you get into some wind, drop handle bars are nice. They also rock on long downhills. Good luck.

I recommend that you get an actual road bike with drop bars for a ride like that, it will allow you to have more hand positions which can help with your hands/wrists hurting on long rides.

I would recommend a roadie with aero bars. The aero bars allow you to put your weight on your elbows and give your wrists a rest. I have them on my road bike and love them, especially on long rides.

I have done that on a trek 7.5 and on my Spez Roubaix my experience is both are suitable however on the hybrid make sure you get a comfy seat I have a Brooks b17.
It took me a few years to get used to a road bike and ride it properly and the seat gets some getting used to even with Assos shorts and chamois cream it gets painful after 90 miles I would recommend padded shorts whichever bike.
I think your choice of bike is very good and carry minimum kit and you will be more comfortable for sure with out losing speed much.
I am planning to do it next year on my Single speed which is going to be interesting

And you won't regret it. When you bought your mountain bike, you didn't settle for a hybrid. You bought a purpose built bike. For your road bike, you did the same thing. In my book, that's a good move.
