So...How Did We Do This Year?
I squeezed in a simple ride this afternoon to make it Ride# 165 for the year. This gave me a total of 5891 miles. Total footies came to 271k. Most miles came in June (704) & the least miles came in this month (226)...weather permiting, I can prolly raise that to 300 if I really try.
My NorCal BF rides came to just about a handful. I'll have to make a better effort in '10 to join in. How did you do?

I didn't get to ride with the NorCal BF crew at all this year! I had an interesting year. I started working with a coach/nutritionist, who definitely got me stronger and faster (and I even lost about 15 pounds, which I've already put back on. With interest.). I bought a new bike. I did a few rides I hadn't done before (Wine Country Double Metric was the best of those). I trained with TnT again for the Death Ride, but recurring back problems meant minimal training in May/June, which combined with a stomach bug on event day limited me to 2 passes plus part of Ebbets. I did manage to do Crater Lake in August (a really nice, low key ride with spectacular scenery), and attempted the Death Valley Double in October, but limited training (due to the kids' soccer teams needing a coach this time) meant another DNF, although I did manage 140 miles and will go back and do that one again - the entire thing, this time!
TnT picked me up as a coach for the Solvang team that's training right now, which is definitely my biggest accomplishment for the year. I have no idea on my mileage and climbing for the year, but probably similar to the past couple (6-7k of mileage or so).
A mixed year, but one where I still feel like I made progress. I'm getting back on track with my training, and am signed up for the Solvang Spring Double in March - hopefully the start of a great 2010!

6,517.9 miles, 415:35:05, 15.031 average, 388,827 ft elevation gain.
I'm pretty happy with those results. Better than 500 a month. We'll see what comes in '10!

96 rides, 3,261.34, miles, 196,952 feet of climbing. Interestingly enough - the fewest rides in a year fo rme, but the mileage is about the same as the last two years.

Computer got reset sometime in June or July it's now showing 4300 miles, 253 hours, 150MJ. I have been averaging around 210miles a week so for a year around 10-11k? I need a social life.
I did two rides. The epic one organized by MisIncredible, and a Mt. Hamilton aka Pho ride.

1,646.88 miles and 129,958.88 ft (55 outtings +17 trainer rides), both my best yearly totals so far, just 6 miles better than last year though but 3,600 ft better.
Attended the Wine Country Double Metric but cut it short at 70 miles due to so pleasant weather... Completed my second Death Ride in a row, all 5 passes, and never felt as good after a long ride. It was my main goal and the competitive highlight of my 2009 cycling.
Had some always enjoyable rides with the local BF gang.
The true highlight of the year was getting a tandem and spending some super quality time with my wife on two wheels. I am looking forward for many more twogether rides in 2010.
I have a calendar conflict with the Death Ride next July so I need a new challenge. I am very close to committing to the CA Triple Crown quest. The target: Solvang, Davis, and Eastern Sierra.

I didn't keep track, but I commute by bicycle every day. Add in weekend road rides, mountain bike rides and I'm probably close to 300 rides this year, probably around 2000 miles. Feet of climbing? I don't know, lots and lots?

64 rides, 1861.5 miles, 112 hrs, 16.46mph avg, 14179ft (hey that's almost as much as a Death Ride! haha) of climbing. Granted, I just recently got an altimeter equipped cyclocomputer, and I didn't get into this sport until July. I hope ... no I will either double or triple (or quadruple, maybe?) that for next year And these stats are from two very different bikes (in my sig).

I started keeping a log of rides at the beginning of this year, but petered out somewhere along the line. Then stopped riding almost entirely (other than a short without-fail-daily commute) a few months ago. Working on that.
But hey, I didn't get hit by any cars this year! Hooray!

I've found keeping my log up to date definitely inspirational. Especially the graph that I keep on my excel spreadsheet. Notice how there's 3 segments.. the first is when I first started. Second was after I moved to Roseville (explaining the drop in average speed ) and the third little segment is when I got my new bike

I petered out logging my miles too, sometime in Sept. I was at 6000 miles then, so I'm estimating between 7200-7500 miles for the year.
Finished the Triple Crown Stage Race. Did some Cat 5 races. Raced in the expert class at Prairie City (and actually hung with em).
I made it to a couple early season rides with the Norcal East folks. Also did the Norcal KOM at Diablo, which was a great event (thanks Beaker!).
I didn't ride enough singletrack this year though. Other than that, it was a good year.

Not a big year for me. I've been pretty much limited to weekend rides, but I've been doing those consistently, and doing more climbing. The key for me next year will be to keep riding during the inclement weather in the winter and spring so I'll be farther ahead when it warms up.

I generally felt pretty good about this year, if we don't count those failed double century attempts. I think I went into the double centuries a bit gung ho, and not really prepared. After DNF'ing Davis Double (after 136 miles, in triple digit heat), and DNF'ing Eastern Sierra (bailing after being snowed upon, and only 40 miles of riding), I just didn't have the urge to go for a double this year. I think soon after I got my fixie, and started commuting into work with that, it helped me immensely, and picked up my pace, and my fitness. I started losing weight, and my climbing improved dramatically. So I think the first half and the second half were dramatically different.
Totals: 5791 miles, 406,335 feet elevation gain, 12.87 avg. speed, and total time of 449:51:15.

I stopped keeping track of stats this spring as I found it was sucking out the fun for me.
I had a lot of fun and did a lot of climbing this year.

This year was pretty lame. Health issues and the subsequent laziness caused large stretches of no riding at all. Totals for the year were just shy of 1000 miles and 60,000 feet of climbing.
Hoping for at least 5,000 miles in 2010...

Looks like about 591 hours, 8700 miles and 810,000 feet of climbing for me. I was shooting for 550 hours but I was unemployed for a while so I got to put in more junk miles.

I ended up with 2,465 miles - 1,204 on the road and 1,261 on the mountain bike. I spent over 200 hours in the saddle and loved every second of it.
Next year, now that I'm done with my degree, I'm going to try and commute more and also race the whole PCRS series. I'm really excited about 2010

Looks like I will end the year with 5546 miles, 379.5k ft elevation in 371 hours on the bike. I missed about 3 months last year, but made up for it in the summer with the triple crown DCs. Around September when things were slowing down I reset my goals to ride a mile of miles, and 1k/day for the year. I made both of those, so I'm happy. And, put in about 600 miles for December, which was my best month in a while.
I didn't do the century/month ride, but I did do 3 DCs, 1 150miler, and 8 other centuries for 12 total rides of 100+. Did only 6 rides of 10k + elevation though. Will improve on that in '10.

147 rides, 3222 miles, 161,220 feet of climbing. Made my goal of 3000 miles.
Goal for 2010: Get faster - my average speed in '09 was only 13.25, mostly because I climb like a stoned St. Bernard (wandering slowly back and forth across the road)!

7912 miles
5334 roadie miles, 1997 commuter miles, 581 fixed gear/ss miles.
Had I realized how close I was to 8000 I'd have pushed a bit in December.
Big deal stuff for me:
• Davis Double
• Beat last years time in the Los Vaqueros Time Trial
• Eight-Day Tour of Washington.

Eh, this past year for me went from very good, to really bad, and is now back to good.
I started out the year training for the Death Ride with TNT (hi Jonathan!) and that was going pretty well -- not spectacular, but hey, I knew it was going to be a stretch no matter what.
Then I had my rather spectacular crash at the end of March (which I still have absolutely no memory of, thank goodness!), and was laid up for several weeks and off my bike completely through most of the summer.
While it sure took long enough, I have the great fortune to have healed up pretty much completely. I still have a few scars on my face, I still have the small bump in my back where the vertebrae was compressed, and my memory is still kind of flakey (altho I suspect that has as much to do with my turning 50 as it does with getting my head clobbered, if not more ), and I'm a little creakier than I used to be (uh, ditto). But apart from that, I've been pain-free for quite some time now, thanks to yoga my back strength and flexibility has returned, and I'm riding again and enjoying it immensely. Can't ask for more than that!
So in celebration of my return I've signed up to train for the Death Ride again with TNT. Unfinished business, y'know. Wish me luck, I'll try to keep the rubber side down this time around.
(Ed to add): For yuks I went and looked up my totals for the past year. Came out to about 2,200 miles and nearly 110K feet of climbing -- heck that's way better than I expected!

I forgot to add that in my year end review ... I'm really glad your back up and at em. And you've got a great attitude after going through that.
