Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I already threw in my choice for the Arundel Dave-O cages but I can also recommend the Arundel carbon side loader cages, my wife's bike has those as her frame is a 47CM and requires the side loader cages.

I have also had Bontrager cages and never lost a bottle from them either. I do like the Arundel cages better.

I have launched a bottle a few times, usually from hitting a hidden pothole. Stuff happens.

I have rather expensive 16g carbon fiber cages on my rather expensive carbon fiber bike. I also have rather cheap ($6) cages on my "trail" bike since weight is not at critical.

I've never had a bottle fall out on its own on either. If your water bottle is loose with a inexpensive metal cage... bend it slightly to make it fit tighter.

I have never had a bottle come out of the plastic Specialized cages, never.

I am a big fan of Arundel cages. I haven't lost a bottle since I put them on in 2007.

Arundel Dave-O on all my bikes, I suppose Mandibles would be okay too. Yes, they are expensive but when you ride 10,000 miles per year, it's a small price to pay.

I have some Blackburn cages I put on my road bike about 1994. They had some RED Rubberized Plastic Fitting that got faded. I cleaned the surface with lighter fluid, and rubbed 3-1 Oil from Wal-Mart into the rubberized plastic. Color came back, no big deal, as I was look at some new high tech cages. I just saved 39.00 bucks.

Manidble's are just the skinnier version of the Dave-O as far as I can tell.

I have the Arundel Mandibles and love them. Look fantastic, very light weight and really hold the bottles securely.

I have Bontrager RLs on my mountain bike and never had an issue with those dropping a bottle either.

+1 for Blackburn Camber. Still haven't dropped a bottle yet (unlike the cheap Chinese carbon eBay ones). My LBS has a crap ton for sale at $19.99 if anybody wants some.

Bottle cages come in all colors, sizes, materials, and cost. From $4.00, to over $50.00 each.

Lighter cost more, think the old guy I restored cost 5 or 6 bucks each in 1994.

I've got $7 Blackburn alloy cages, they work fine as long as I actually put the bottle back in the cage and not next to it.

LOL...I did that not once but twice the other day...

Another vote for the King Cages...I found the King Ti Cages on sale and they have never let me down. I ride some pretty bumpy stuff and they never fall out. I had some carbon fiber side loading that cost me 50 bucks in lost bottles...

I bought mine HERE. I paid 32 dollars each during a sale.

+ whatever on the Arundels. if you want a cheap solution, the Sports are great for less than $15 each...

i personally use the Arundel Trident cages, cause i tried the Dave-O's and it was just too tough to get a bottle out, especially when i was at speed. for me personally, the Tridents where the smoothest in and out i could find as far as carbon cages went, and i've never lost a bottle yet...

+1 for Arundels. Mine have never launched a bottle.

I also have King Ti on my CX bike. Great cages too, but a different look than modern road cages imho

I always just buy cheap China carbon copies. I have probably had 4 designs so far and they all worked fine.

I'm currently using the copy of a Elite Patao. Got them for $20USD for a set. So far so good.

I'd be interested. Cheapest I see online is $52 on Amazon. I would just PM you but that takes 50 posts and I'm not there yet.

My bike is a red Specialized Diverge so I had considered getting the Gloss Red cage but I'd be afraid it wouldn't match color-wise so I should probably play it safe and go for the Gloss Black lol.

(likeness, not mine)

Yeah you'd want the gloss black, it has a touch of red in the logo too. Besides gloss black is all the shop has anyway. I'll send you a PM, let me know if you don't/can't get it.

I got the same ones (actually bought three) and never have I ejected a bottle. For the price, they have been great. I think they could have even charged more and still have been worth it. The only place they skimp a little is how they drilled the holes. they could have been neater but a little sandpaper cleaned them up if you care. After all, they will sit behind a washer and screw so who is going to know.

I use the Serfas nylon bottle cages. They are light, hold tight and look good. The aluminum ones blow chunks - they always loosen up over time and lose their grip.

I got your PM but I can't respond back.

Sent enough for 2 of them + shipping. The Small box looks like it's only 1.6" deep so I sent enough for the Medium (also threw in a few extra bucks for helping me out ).

Let me know if I messed up and came out under somehow lol.

Thanks a bunch!
