Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Weather forecast for today's ride:

SoCal in May. The big challenge on this route is usually the heat.

Rain is on the way. I'll ride to the bike shop anyway, because Mrs. rjones28 has the car this morning - www.wcny.org Thunderstorms this afternoon. I may wimp out and hitch a ride home.

@LAJ and @UnfilteredDregs, getting set up and ready to ride. Boy it's cold here & we're only around 3500 ft of elevation. Will go up to maybe 6000 ft today. The only saving grace is that the first 15-20 miles are all uphill.

I'm thinking we need to promote @Heathpack and @RollCNY to a separate category from the rest of us mere mortals . . . Beast category.

Others may apply for entry when qualified.

Those like myself are already in a separate category . . . RoadKill category. I fully understand why there's always a large vulture presence when I'm out for a ride.

Good club ride today. A little fast for me. I did a couple strong pulls anyway and stayed with the group until about 5 miles before the end. Then the dreaded leg cramps hit, so I had to drop off and limp back the last few miles solo.

Still, 100% pure fun.

Nice! Bummer about the limping back part.

The little lady and I are headed up to the Hazel Dell Parade of Bands. Lotsa marching bands, horses, goats, vintage fire trucks and tractors!

I suffered the first 30 miles of our 45 miler but started feeling good all of a sudden. A break of 6 formed with 6 miles to go and I took my pulls easily. I led the group out for the sprint with a 30+ pull for a 1/4 mile or so. Much appreciated by the break.

I'm watching the Giro on replay but I just can't get in to the ToC. Love the Giro, though.

Who's down for some Veggetti tonight? I hadn't seen that one before.

Or you could simply cut up the vegetables and cook them in less time.

My wife mashes cauliflower to make a mashed potato substitute. I love it. I agree that the vagimator seems like overkill.
