Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh I still hate clipping in ahahha. I just bought some platformers 2.0 which effectively made the speedplays alot more versatile. I prefer the SPD-SL's for pure road biking but with the platformers, the speedplays allow me to casually ride and do a hard training session without ever changing the actual pedals. Can't lie, speedplay definitely deserves some props for that.

Unfortunately they charge an arm and a leg. 25 bucks for some flat pieces of plastic? Geez.

Yep.

Zeros are racing pedals. Without a way to adjust the tension. To get in and out, they are like having Looks or Shimanos with the max tension dialed in. They are not for everyone.

I personally can't stand them....have Look Blades with the 16 nm carbon blades in and that is perfect.

Pedals are like bikes...you can argue all day about them. I just don't want to bother with maintenance. With mine you just ride.

My only complaint as I mentioned is dirt clogging and making it hard to disengage. I'm sure covers would mke a difference but I never use them with SPDs and never had a problem with first on them.
Same here. Very long life on Speedplay cleats without covers. I HATE covers. Yes, clogging is an issue with Speedplays like parking lots with sand near the beach. But cleat covers are a bigger PITA. Love my Speedplays.
