Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you're wearing those socks, you don't get to talk about "tacky".

I wear a "BIKE FORUMS.NET" jersey I acquired a few years ago. I'm still waiting for the check in the mail to pay for this!
Also wear jerseys from each of the three clubs I ride with and an iBonesto jersey and some vintage Nishiki jerseys. I only ride with a plain jersey in the winter and only because I don't have a billboard jersey with long sleeves.

I'd rock that...but only because I went to Nottingham and both my parents are alumni.

OK, well you go ahead and be tour de france fashion week, and I'll keep having fun.
If it helps you sleep better, I only have the one pair and I only wear them with this jersey.

I have a collection of "free" jerseys from a charity ride I support each year. I have stopped collecting them because I have more than enough.

I don't apologize for advertising support of a cause that benefits some seriously hurting people, and it does generate conversation.

All of the jerseys I have purchased outright are one color or simple stripes. I do have one jersey from an informal club I rode with some. It is an interesting pattern but does not actually name the club (which doesn't have a name) or have any logos.

Really? I get asked multiple times per month about what bike frame, wheels, jersey, handlebars, shifters, and brakes I have on whatever build I am riding. I am often asked not only brand, but where I purchased it.

No one has asked you and @Rowan about your bike Fridays? That is very sad.

We don't usually wear our Bike Fridays as jerseys.

@Machka, I know you are extremely literal, so I will explain clearly.

Thread is about being a billboard.
Several posters (not you) said unequivocally that they advertise nothing unless they are paid to do so.
Frames and wheels are bigger billboards than jerseys.
I am asking those posters if they refuse to have branding on their frames, wheels, and components, and if they would refuse to answer questions about their unbranded gear.
None of them responded. They may or may not grasp the hypocrisy of the earlier statements.
You wanted to pick apart something that was never addressed to you.

But if you want to keep things specific to jerseys, I was at a ride yesterday with 450 riders. I wore a Twin Six jersey that says "MASHER". I received 7-8 compliments on it and had 4 people ask me who made the jersey. So I am sorry people don't ask you questions. Your experience is nothing like mine, yet you felt the need to challenge mine. They are not mutually exclusive.

My favorite cycling caps all prominently feature the campy logo. Makes me 30% faster and 100% cooler.

Since I was a kid I thought people who aren't sponsored having all kinds of brands plastered over themselves look like idiots.

Or just frugal, or it's what they do. My brother hasn't had to buy t-shirts or polos in years, because he gets so many from vendors and other contractors. It's what he wears all day most days. When it comes to advertising, he's got his own big sign on the sides of his trucks, but it occurs to me that he never had his own shirts or ball caps made....

I like the graphic designs on the Primal jerseys. This one has my interest because I am a beekeeper. I just don't want to pay $70 for it.

I am also partial to Castelli offerings. I like the fit and their designs. I only buy them on sale though.

You can find nice prices on Primal wear at Nashbar. If you buy when they have a 20% or more off sale going, you will make out okay. I think now if you spend $49 or more, they also give free shipping.

It isn't my career, it is just a hobby. I currently have 10 hives and they are loads of fun. Get a hive and be a beekeeper!
