Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I said it before (in the other thread I originally posted on this) but CM is the single worst thing that ever happened for cycling advocacy. It even makes me want to run over certain people with my car. It creates much more hostility toward cyclists which is why none of the "real cyclists" I know would ever have anything to do with it

Well, they were kinda in the crosswalk right in front of the car that was advancing on them, so I imagine the driver did do something wrong, technically.

But those CMers were definitely not using the crosswalk in a very predictable manner.

It looks like one of the guys on a bike actually turned towards the car, bumped it with his front tire, laid the bike down, and started yelling that he had "been hit".

Yeah, I guess that corker was getting a little expansionist there, he was well beyond the crosswalk.

I reckon they were trying to cork a diagonal to go the wrong way up that other street?

Cycling advocacy is the worst thing that's ever happened for cycling advocacy. If you ever want to see a good argument for eugenics, check out the A&S forum.

Cycling advocacy makes me want to actively rally against bicycle infrastructure. We ride bikes, we're not a special class of people... and I'm not trying to save the damned environment I'm just trying to be healthy and do an activity I enjoy. I commute many miles by car every day and I'm not ashamed of it.

I used to commute to/from work by bike. Traffic is pretty awful here, the bike meant it took about the same time to get home every day, no matter what traffic was like. Good for my social life. I also felt like I had more time, I already got my workout by the time I got home. Then the company moved north and there's no way I'm going to ride 20 miles and be in the office at 7 am. So now I drive to/from work and do an evening loop. It's my time to be outdoors, exercise, feel the wind on my face, etc; it's not a political statement, it's riding a bike.

It's people like these that cause grief for the rest of us. Disobeying multiple traffic laws, purposefully trying to cause conflict with drivers, assaulting them, etc.
Those people are bad news for bicycles. Scum

Driver should've plowed them down as soon as the dumb@ss with the ulock threatened him/her. All involved in stopping and detaining the vehicle and its occupants should be arrested. All the Critical"ly" ******** mass should be cited for the numerous traffic violations committed.

So the next cyclist to be run down by a road raging cager has these morons to thank for it.

What goes down is really hard to believe. What would make such an illiterate lowlife cycling scumbum scafflaw ride into an oncoming lane, get off his bike and then plant it in front of an automobile, and then acting like he has the right to put a bike down in the middle of a traffic lane and then start whining like he's still in first grade. I sort of feel sorry for him, to be so stupid to think he can get away with that behavior. I wist he lady in the car would have just run the bike over, and then taken off.

What a forked up bunch of people. Screw 'em. I hope they all go to jail for assault. One day somebody will floor it and run right through the lot of them. Would serve them right.
