Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lizard Skins or Zipp Service Course Bar Tape?

Doing a conversion from SRAM Force to Ultegra on my Moots. I've got white decals and a white Fizik seat, so I'm going with white bar tape. I don't cycle with gloves unless it's below 55 degrees. So, what do you think'll make me happiest? Lizard Skins DSP 2.5 or Zipp?

Let me have it or I'm open to other recs! As always, thanks for your input.

Fizik heavier version tape might have enough padding for you. Either way it stays cleaner than any other tape that I know of.

I used Lizard Skins once and was disappointed in its durability.

Good to know. I'll check out the Fizik, too.

Deda makes a durable white tape, that is easy to clean and isn't slick.

I was surprised by how easy it is to clean, and how long it holds up.

I have Lizardskins on three bikes, one of which has "second hand" tape it received off another bike, so re-wrapped, but still looking and feeling good.

I have a hard time imagining a better tape than Lizardskins 2.5 or 3.2.

Zipp is nothing special. Feels like generic cork. I've moved to Shimano Pro Vibe. I love it because it's silicon backed so easy to take on and off without glue

Same here. Got maybe two months out of them before the black peeled away from the foam.

Wow. Really some differing experiences with Lizard Skins. I've used it on several bikes and am getting maybe 4,000 miles of riding with it. The best part is the color (never tried white) stays nice, bright, and clean looking.

Zipp is just cork- I like cork though, it's cheap and lasts a good long time for me. White lasts fairly long but i'm in California where rust and wet, oily roads are like unicorns.

Lizardskin has been good to me. The 3.2 is overkill but the 2.5 is the sweet spot for me. Really like the black but have used blue, orange band white as well as a dual color black and yellow. White picked up the leather dye from my gloves but cleaned up pretty good. I usually get bored and swap it out, has a good life span for me.

My experience also, real nice tape, but as soon as you scuff it (which is really easy), it deteriorates real quick, very expensive too, for the lack of durability.
