Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Eclectic selection for your build ... seat and bar-ends like a touring bike on stiff lighter weight road bike ... but I do like it.

Just got this up and running. I have a lot of changes I intend to be making over the Summer, but I'm loving it so far.

Nice handlebars, gfrance- what are they? Is that Beef's old frame? Probably not- hey, Prospect or Central?

Handlebars are Deda Newton Shallow. Still getting used to them. Pretty different feel from anatomic bends. And no, it is not Beef's old frame, but someone here did buy that... just a coincidence that I came into mine the same time he came into his.

And as to the park....actually neither. It's Forest Park in Queens. That's my new go to park ride since moving. Not as nice as either Prospect or Central, but gets the job done.

That right there takes some brass balls, my friend.

Raffling off a $5,500 (retail) bike, for 100 $100 tickets? If you sell all 100, you've banked $10,000.

Also, using Ride-Strong as a play on LiveStrong...so clever.

Finally, what's the raffle for? Is it benefitting anything other than you?

/I'd never buy in, I'm just curious.

Nope...It was here. Some guy shilling a Colnago raffle. I think the mods acted quickly, and, in effect, allowed me to show my ass.

cross post from foo:

My new bike in trainer form... Fort Gestus frame, Columbus tusk lite full carbon fork, 9s dura-ace build. Trainer/borrowed wheels and tires. Already got a shopping list to get the groupset and wheels back to my uncle. I dont have a scale I'll figure out how to weigh it soon.

I have a 2006 Giant TCR-1 Composite. It's got the Ultegra, not the 'Euro' pack.

My ride (don't laugh):

probably deserves to be in C&V.

$10 spraypainted Miyata of unknown year and model. Not flashy, mix and match parts (mostly shimano 600), my favorite ride for long distances. Hopefully, I will do my first double century on it this summer.
