Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Those custom race cages look great! I also thought about getting one of each color. White Arundels look classy as hell, however this is kind of my race bike, so I think I´m getting the elites. Hope to be able to get them soon at the LBS.

Not sure what exactly you mean about it being a race bike and not wanting to get the Mandibles. They are know to be one of the most secure holders out there.

I´m pretty sure they are safe. However it will be really hard to get them from any LBS down here, already phoned some and they don´t even know the brand

I know there is a lot of nice componentry out there, but I´m realistic and thats one of the reasons I´m using Shimano instead of Campagnolo... If something goes wrong with a chain, I could easiley get a DA chain, cassete or almost any part right away. On the other hand I shoul wait about 1-2 months in order to get Campy stuff...

I just want to keep it simple in terms of mainentance and availability. However I agree that arundels look really nice and classy.

Regards

Not into the bars or the big spacer stack, and the housing loop seems a little short and kinked for Sram.

Why not buy a Synapse if that's how you're going to set it up?

Sorry. Not hot.

Sorry, that's how it came, I haven't ridden it enough to find out what comfortable, I will drop the spacers a bit at a time.

I didn't buy a synapse cause I didn't want one.

Housing Loop? is that the loop at the RD? It doesn't seem to bind when shifting, I'll keep an eye on it. I wish I could take it to a LBS, I live in Okinawa, Japan. I bought the Bike at the PX, they are a Cannondale/Trek dealer here on island. Only problem is they don't have any shop Mechanics. There are several bike stores on island, however there is a language barrier, and its expensive as hell. I wish I could have gotten a nice bike fit out of the deal, but doing my own maintenance, and bike fitting is par for the course until I get back to the states. I am also scared to have the steerer cut.

Thanks for the tips,

Jimmy

I love the C59, and consider it one of my dream bikes.
I like the color scheme.
I think I'd go with solid black tires instead of the gumwalls in this instance.
https://www.veloflextires.com/velofle...3_clincher.htm
Stem looks long, not sure if its an optical illusion.
I know it's "pro", but I've never been into the white bartape and saddle.

Well I finally made the plunge. Fuji did such a great job she's hot stock under the tree. Gonna convert the steel into touring/camping bike once I get used to the Fondo.

Picked up both of these this week. I know most of you wont like these, based on the dollar signs. Still worth showing off though. You gotta love the 90's candy blue with red splatter paint though.

1992 Schwinn Paramount PDG Series 3

1987 Cannondale SR800 Black Lightning. I havent made my changes to this yet, but I have big plans. Ill repost when im done.

Yes, the housing loop for the RD. Sram likes a pretty large loop to shift best.

If you are still dialing in the fit, fair enough but this is the Hot r Not thread.

That Paramount is pretty sweet looking.

The Cannondale looks too small if set up to fit you, and the fork looks slightly bent. The Spenco grips, bar end shifters, and non-aero levers make the front end of the bike look a mess. With some work it could be a Hot though.

It started as a back-up bike; oops, I did it again.

Lynskey R330 Etched Logos, Bright-brushed finish
Custom Prowheelbuilder training wheels - HED C2 Rims, silver White Industry Hubs, silver Sapim CX-Ray spokes
2012 SRAM Red Quarq crankset, FD, and Brakes, 2011 SRAM Red Brake/Shifters, 2012 Sram Force 12-25 Cassette
ENVE 2.0 Fork, Stem, Compact Handle Bar, Seatpost

Ti is a like a blank canvas. i like to add a bit of colour to mine via bar tape, tyres, bottle cages. currently red but i've been thinking of going yellow.
