Pretty god damn disappointed. I get to the shop they pull the bike down and it's everything I was looking for even has a DA rear derailleur which I wasn't expecting. We start to get me fitted on the bike and it feels great.
As we're wrapping things up I notice some serious scuffing on the cranks, I don't make much of it. Then I notice a fat chip out of the paint on the aluminum seat tubing. I start giving the bike over and realize the bike must have gone down in a test ride. I get a little bummed out but it's aesthetic and I figure maybe I could talk them down even more on the price. I also notice a slight scratch in the head tube.
As I get on the bike and start riding and the sun hits the head tube right I notice that the scratch on the head tube isn't a scratch it's a CRACK. At the right angle you can see a seam coming out under the paint continuing from where the "scratch" appears to end. I've decided to return the bike tomorrow and ask for my $135 back for the rest ride that would have gone towards the purchase of the bike.
I'm really disappointed, this bike rode great for the 20 or so miles I was out on it, it was like a whole new feeling to ride on a bike where I wasn't itching to get out of the hoods from discomfort, the stiffness was unbelievable. I'm hoping that they have a new System Six they'd be willing to do a deal on because I love this frame.

Damn. Did the guys at the shop know it had apparently been in a crash or remember some other testrider come in sheepishly and say "uh no thanks guys appreciate it." and smoke his tires as they leave the parking lot?
Man, that sucks for you.

Sorry about the bike. There is always the TCR Advanced SL 3 if you can track one down.
If you want the Boonen Mullet, then you must signify the "Euro Mullet". Also along the same lines as the Euro Mullet, there is the EurO'Donnell, adopted whole-heartedly by Heinrich Haussler. Named for it's striking resemblance to Rosie O'Donnell's haircut.

Last year I went from an old GT Ti frame to a Caad 9 and a Trek Madone. They both make the GT feel like a mattress spring. It's probably placebo, but I feel like I climb a lot better on them.

All I noticed was the bike just felt so much less squishy, it wasn't necessarily easier to climb with, then again I'm just getting over a cold so I blew up pretty fast. I have my fingers crossed that they can at least track down a frame set because if they can I think I might go with this bike. If they were willing to do a new System Six 3 like this one for like 2k or so I think I'd go for it.
I still think I could go for a even smaller frame, like maybe a 53 but I'd have to size down to a 52 and I think that's just too small. I had a nice little bend in the elbow and was able to just chill in the hoods, when I got in the drops I felt no pressure on my junk from leaning too far forward it was great. I was running a 100mm stem too on this.

Hope the bike works out for you. It'll be worth the wait.
I say go with the mullet, especially if you are still sporting the 70's porn-stasche.

That's pretty sweet, yah this shop ask's for $60 for a day or $135 for a week to test a bike and the money is good towards any bike you purchase. I like dealing with Helen's but w/them you only get to ride the bike around you don't get the option of taking it home. A lot of the LA shops seem to be all business, this shop is good guys. They're giving me my money back though which is nice, at least I know I can fit a 54cm Cannondale lol.

I forget if your hair is long enough in the front, but I recommend a mullet-hawk. With steps. I rocked this 2 summers ago, and, oh, what a glorious one it was.

It's all good I just had a HUGE bike tease today, 10 minutes on that bike and I swear I was sold. I know this might sound weird but in the 4000+ miles I've been riding (year and a quarter) I have never ridden and felt comfortable in the hoods, I did today.
