Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No big scenery. Just plain roads around my hometown but it is where I do my riding. Pics from late summer/autumn.

That picture, more than just about any other one I can remember seeing, makes me want to get on my bike and never stop climbing.

Blasphemy or no, descending is my favorite part of cycling. I refuse to climb an awesome hill unless I get to reward myself with descending it afterward.

Truer words could not have been spoken. It is all about the climb. The descent is an after thought. The climb is the reason for being on the bike.

For some maybe. But as a kid, I didn't walk up the hill in the winter for fun. I did it to sled down.
