Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Garmin vs Cateye/Polar

Does anyone know if either the Cateye V3 or Polar heart rate monitors are compatible with the Garmin Edge 500? I want the Edge but don't want to buy the strap.

Thanks

My Edge 500 came with the Garmin strap. I got the bundle with the cadence sensor, though.

That said, if the strap you have is ANT+ compatible, it should work. Look at the back for the ANT+ logo.

I have an old Polar with a strap and it didn't work with my Edge 305. However, maybe the newer ones will. If you are going to buy a Garmin Edge, it will come with a heart rate strap.

Our higher end stuff(I'm from Polar), CS400, CS500 and CS600 have elevation, incline and sync easily with your PC (CS500 will have Mac support).
