Garmin 800 & Polar HRM??

Will a Polar heart rate monitor work with a Garmin 800? I am thinking about the 800 but if I can keep from duplicating some of the items I would be more inclined to buy.
Thanks

I don't think so. Polar users their own communication protocol, not ANT+ like Garmin and others, AFAIK.

No it will not.
Looigi is correct, the HRM and or cadence unit must be ANT+ compatible to work with your Edge 800.

Whilst the Polar transmitter will not work, you can use a Garmin transmitter on some Polar straps.

Don't throw out your Polar HRM chest strap, that will work fine with the Garmin HRM unit and you may find it more comfortable.
