Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

definitely get the 9-5. No doubt in my mind that's what I would get...

Remember that they don't all fit the same.

I figured that's why I'd hit a place where I can try them all out in one trip.

Anyone know how the Bianchi Via Nirone 7 stacks up against the other bikes mentioned in this thread (Fuji Roubaix, Trek 2.3, Specialized Allez Comp)? Sorry to semi hijack your thread OP, but I am looking at much the same bikes that you are, and feel there is no point creating a new thread.

Went into my LBS today and ended up ordering a Fuji Roubaix ACR 2.0, should be here tomorrow. I didn't want to wait around for the 2011's and I wasn't overly thrilled with the Trek's today. Spent a little more than I had planned but that's typical. Pics to come.

I own a Giant, but my freinds that are buying new bikes are mostly buying Fuji. They are all in the $1000 to $1500 price range. At that point you can get a full carbon Fuji for the same $$$ as an aluminum Trek or Specialized (put Giant in there too). They are typically getting 105 10 speed. OK these are mid-level bikes, not high end, but they are nicer and better equipped than the big three. So why not buy a Fuji.
I'm sure you'll be happy with your Roubaix. Good luck with it.

I stopped by the LBS today, you know, just to look around Thought I'd see some of the '11 models, which I did, but as fate would have it there were some really cool '10 and even '09 models in there. One was the Bianchi Via Nirone 7 (Tiagra) for $849. That is one of the best deals I've seen at an LBS in a while, but still about the same as an Ultegra BD bike. Since it comes down to the frame, essentially, what is Bianchi giving me that BD is not? Can anyone justify buying a Tiagra equipped bike over an Ultegra?

A name that people won't snicker about behind your back?
A real dealer network?
A resale value?
A phone # ?

Shall I go on?

Thanks for your answers :-) I guess what I was getting at, components aside, is a Bianchi frame worth that much more than a standard BD frame? It is difficult for me to compare the Bianchi ALU/Carbon frame with components two grades below the Mercier Corvus for example.

1. I don't care what people think of the name on my bike, I care how it rides.
2. Dealer network? I'm not sure if this is significant to me.
3. Resale value is really moot to me as I either hand the bikes down, part them out, or ride them into the ground.
4. Phone number? Sarcasm detected, but I get your drift. The LBS will be there for me if I need them. Truth is, aside from warranty info I don't need their help - I just need them to sell me the bike.

So. Bianchi ALU frame with carbon seat stays with Tiagra, or BD frame with Ultegra components. Go.
