Does it trim? As in, does the lever make a small click before the big one that pushes the derailleur onto the next chainring?

I can make it easier:
1. Downshift the front shifter all the way and disconnect the FD cable.
2. Align the FD cage so it's parallel with the chainrings.
3. Put the chain on the small ring and big cog, then adjust the FD's low limit screw so the FD's inboard plate barely clears the chain (as in, one millimeter or less).
4. Reconnect the FD cable with enough tension to keep it taut, yet not so much tension that it makes the FD move.
5. Turn the cranks and shift to the big ring and small cog, then adjust the high limit screw so that the FD cage's outboard plate barely clears the chain.

5 minutes. That's it. Your front shifter's trim should work fine. After you've shifted onto the big ring, you can tap the smaller downshift lever a little bit to make a small click, and the FD cage will move ever so slightly. It will move enough to avoid chain rub in the big-big combo.

Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum and am hoping to join the cult of caad! Currently I ride a Specialized Allez in 56 with a slammed stem at -17. I'm 5'11 with a 32'' inseam and really long arms (6'2 wingspan). I'm hoping to get a caad10 for collegiate racing and the LBS at school has a 2011 CAAD10-1 with the black anodizing in stock in size 54. I was hoping to build up the bike with a thomson setback and a thomsom -10 stem. My question is: if I set up the bike like this, will I be able to pull it off? Even if I slam it? I'm a pretty flexible guy (I can put my palms on the ground while standing). I recently tested a 54 tarmac and it felt much easier to control than my allez. How else will a smaller frame affect the bike feel?

Oh man... new-old stock 2011 CAAD10-1? If I knew about that, I would have gone that route! It sounds like a sweet ride and I imagine pretty affordable if they still have it in stock since it isn't selling.

Theyre charging $2400 for it but the main problem is seeing if I can fit on a 54.

I am waiting delivery on my Caad and i have a question about the plastic disc on the rear wheel. Do Caads come with them on? I have a very little clear one on my Synaspe.On a ride last year i had the chain jump the last gear and the plastic stopped it from going into the spokes.Would this have caused damage if the plastic disc was not there or is this a rare thing that this happened?

Your CAAD should not have a dork disk, if your ders are set properly you should be fine without it. You do not want to listen to everyone telling you the "Rules" say you "CANNOT" have one and still be a roadie, that will go on and on and on.............. I have been removing them since the 70's when I was racing and started on a Raleigh Super Course, never had a chain on the rear spokes, but it can happen if things go wrong.

thanks Bill, it was a isolated thing when the chain when off however got me thinking what if that plastic thing was not there.Anyhow maybe it will be here tomorrow.Also this is the very first Cannondale this shop has sold so they are pumped almost as much as me.

The SystemSix is much nicer up front. It can dive into corners and really hang in there. Other than that, it really rides about the same, which is nice.

its actually a 2012 colorway. This was the paint scheme released for the ultegra bike.
