The Cult of CAAD...

New but already broken
So I started looking for a new road bike back in the spring for a 50th b-day present.
Last new road bike purchase was a Centurion Ironman back in 1987.
Thought I needed a comfort bike as I'm getting on in years and not very flexible so I test rode all the usual suspects over the summer(Roubaix,Synapse,Domane, Defy etc.)
None really wowed me and some handled pretty sluggish.
Most of my rides are short and fast(for me...)so I tried the racier frames and just loved the CAAD far and away more than any of the others.
No idea how it happened but after three weeks and eight rides I have a big dent/crease on the drive side chainstay.
Maybe I bought a lemon as my research led me to believe these frames are pretty robust.
Anyway the bike still looks pretty.

I know when I crashed out of a race a couple of years ago as I was inspecting my bike my heart skipped a beat when I saw that as well.
If it's not in that area, seemingly minor impacts have been shown to do some serious damage to aluminum frames as well. With thin walls and light weights, that's the price we have to pay.

Anyone know what kind of shifting cable adjusters come on the CAAD10? My old CAAD used those inline barrel adjusters, and I absolutely hated them - they never worked properly. It seems the constraints are even worse on the new bikes, because the shifter cables are wrapped under the bar tape. I saw one custom pic of inline adjusters installed just after the cables exit the bar tape, but it looks cramped and difficult to access - check out the pic here https://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...o/IMG_1987.jpg. And, as mentioned, I'd prefer to steer away from the inline version - but I don't see how any other type would work.

I would guess no. I picked up my bike from a LBS (as you can tell by its stock parts). Although, keep us updated on your build. Just curious, what made you go for a new frame? And what are you going to do about your old frame?

Didn't like the feel of plastic, but didn't want steel, so I went high end aluminum.

Man, I kind of regret getting Fizik Microtex bartape. **** is not forgiving at all, hands get sore pretty damn quick now, even w/ gel-padded gloves.

I get numb hands with padded tape or even microtex with padded gloves. I can go for hours with Microtex and non padded gloves. Have you tried to ditch the padded gloves? I use the Castelli gloves that have no padding but a little suede for grip.

Anyone have issues with Yokozuna and inline adjusters?
We're similar in that respect. Microtex and batting gloves are great for me. I can't feel pinkies after about an hour if there's too much padding.

Any idea what the diff is between those mini adjusters, and the Jagwire Thinline adjusters (https://www.amazon.com/Jagwire-Jagwir.../dp/B005YORXJ8)?
Think the Sram adjusters are rebadged Jagwires.
