Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help

Hi guys. I saw the bike below on a recent trip to New York and wondered what type of rim the red one on the front is. Any ideas?

Could I run this rim, and one the same on the back, on a bike with 7 gears on the back?

Thanks,

Michael.

It's most likely this wheel:
https://shop.hplusson.com/product/eero

You'd have to get to get the T42's which don't come in red because the eero's don't have a braking surface (which is why he has a regular wheel on the rear). You could also go with a wheel that's not quite as deep like the Velocity Deep V:
https://www.velocityusa.com/default.asp?contentID=583

That said you'll probably need to have your rear stays spread, which would mean spacers for the cassette (or prolly freewheel in your case) or just upgrade the whole cassette, derailleurs and shifters.
