Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need opinion for first road bike

Hi guys,

I noticed there's now a sale at wiggle.co.uk and so I decide to get my first road bike.

From the so many choices, I managed to pick three that are most suitable for my budget. The only problem is picking the best one out of the three. I so so need your expert opinion on this one.

They are:
- Prorace Moros Ultegra 2011
- Moser Bikes 111 Ultegra 2011
- BH Bikes Prisma 7.8 Ultegra 2011

Which one would you pick if you were me?

Thank you for your help guys!

Cheers,

Andry

The first two seem pretty much the same. The last came up as an ex demo and looked to be a bit more expensive, but even then with a similar group.
I would be wary of purchasing a bike I had not had the opportunity to ride for fit and comfort...

Forget about all the crap listed. There is but one sane choice. Pinarello Dogma with campy super record. If you can not afford it now , give up cycling until you can. Other opinions are not valid. You must ride only this bike and no, there is no need to test ride it. Just buy it.

The good doctor is being sarcastic, I'm sure.

I would chose the Battaglin simply for the components. Plus the website is in Italian. I always get sorta gooey inside when I read Italian. Don't know what it means but I'm sure it's really bad ass. Casually bad ass. Like Mario Cipolini bad ass.

I'll bet that bike is casually bad ass. I'll buy that.

I suspect the doc is saying that these are a bit much for first road bikes. Combine that with not having been fitted for a road bike, and it is a bit dodgy.

How about taking them for a test ride, get fitted properly and pick the one that fits and rides best for your individual goals and riding style?

Oh yeah, I forgot, you can't do that online.

I would go to your LBS and see what they have to offer. Seriously.
